Costumes You Can Wear Again: Snow White

Hello all, so I just couldn’t wait til Friday to share this look with all of you. I was just too thrilled with my results to be patient haha.

I feel like Snow White may be one of the easiest looks to pull together that still has a great payoff, as long as you get the right colors you could do any interpretation of snowhite you wanted, you could be super casual and wear jeans, a yellow t-shirt, blue cardigan, and a red belt and headband for a relaxed look, or if you have a fancy yellow dress you could always do that up too, its completely up to you…So of course for my own interpretation I decided go for a pinup inspired look.

Can you believe there wasn’t a single crystal casket to use for my eternal slumber? So I made do with the bridge.1933and not one prince came along to kiss me…but its all good I managed, all one really needs is proper motivation to wake up…for me that motivation was dinner, you can’t just live off of apples you know ūüėČ

Fashion Friday Featuring Atomic Swag

Oh my goodness guys I’m so stoked for this week’s feature. As you all know I really enjoy rocking the pinup/rockabilly look, but unfortunately that style can be a bit too dressy. Now I’ve actually come to the point where I no longer care about people thinking I’m too dressy, but some day’s I’d prefer to be a little more chill, and what is more chill than a t-shirt? Well I’ll tell you, a t-shirt from Atomic Swag Apparel.¬†I’m not sure I’ve ever worn a more delightfully soft shirt, seriously it’s like wrapping yourself in your favorite cozy blanket…except these bad boys are way more stylish than walking around wearing a blanket.

Atomic swag’s shirt designs are just fabulous and could fit anyone’s taste, men¬†included, this post isn’t just for the ladies. The different styles offered range from¬†rockabilly, motorcycle, state, to hotrod racing t-shirts and all these designs are printed on 100% cotton t-shirts using waterbased inks so they won’t chip, peel, or fade. Huzzah for excellent quality! Looking good isn’t enough, I need style and quality and Atomic Swag certainly delivers on both accounts.

Shirt: Atomic Swag Apparel¬†I just love how delightfully cheeky the design on this shirt is don’t you? I’m just so pleased with this soon to be “overworn” piece. Since I’m a pinup and a Texan I’ve always had a bit of a softspot for pinup cowgirls and this shirt could not combine those two styles more perfectly.

Shirt: Atomic Swag Apparel¬†Oh my word, I didn’t even know it was possible to love a shirt this much you guys. I have a ridiculous amount of state pride and if you’re a fellow Texan you know what I’m talking about, this shirt could not be more perfect! The cream colored background, the vintage soft feel, and the Texas design just combine so beautifully and I am not even a little sorry about how much I am going to wear this shirt. It’s a Texas thing Ya’ll ūüėČ

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you get yourself some Atomic Swag gear…In fact both the lovely people at Atomic Swag and myself so badly want you to experience their brilliant combo of style and comfort that we have a 20% off discount code for you to use, its sarahforshaw20. Fashion Friday Featuring Corset Story

Hooray it’s Friday and boy¬†do I have a great feature for you all, this week I am featuring Corset Story.

Corset Story is an online¬†store, that works¬†along side of¬†thousands of international retailers, making them the largest distributers of corsets worldwide. Now before you wrinkle your nose at a “big business” I must let you know when I had questions about sizing I had someone helping me every step of the way with the kind of personal attention you would get from a boutique, but will all of the expertise of a large corporation. Not only is Corset Story an authority¬†on the construction of their garments but they also have an extensive variety of styles, which means¬†whether you prefer the rockabilly look (like I do) or are one of the few people cool enough to pull off the steampunk look (I applaud you) I can guarantee you will find something you want.

Earrings: Stole em from my mom but you can get a similar pair from claires

Corset: Corset Story Can I just say how much I love this beauty? The ruffle edging, the incredible constructions (You can really cinch that waist in let me tell ya),¬† the ability to wear it¬†dressed up or down, and my all time favorite print makes this the perfect corset in my eyes. My measurements are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ and with the expert advice I received¬†I ended up getting a size 24 which fits beautifully thanks to the lace up back. If you have any size questions the team at Corset Story are more than happy to help, but I’d say their size charts are pretty accurate so you may not even need help ūüėČ

I really hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check Corset Story out! Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Must Have Accessory Trends for Spring 2014.

Being that the weather seems to finally be losing it’s chilly edge I thought I’d do a little post on spring trend accessories.

Adding new accessories is a great way to update your wardrobe for spring without spending a huge amount of money. Sometimes all it takes is a new scarf or a new purse to help your wardrobe staples take on a whole new style. If you’re looking for a new piece of wearable fashion for the new season, below are a few spring trends I‚Äôll be working into my wardrobe as the weather gets warmer!

1.¬†Anything vibrant orange. According to Elle magazine, bright orange is the go-to color for the coming season. In fact, they call it “the new black.” Rock this look by pairing a¬†Sarah Stewart orange silk scarf¬†with my Irene Adler inspired hair and makeup, cropped pants, and a white tee, and you‚Äôre all set!

2.¬†“Hippie” bags made of natural fibers.¬†Harper‚Äôs Bazaar magazine calls “haute hippie” bags made from natural fibers like cotton and hemp a growing trend as consumers continue the move away from animal products. This¬†Shiva Navy backpack¬†fits right in with that style and would be a really cute yoga bag. Might just need to snap this one up immediately‚Ķ

3.¬†Fringe.¬†The “Fashion Spot”¬†announces that fringe is another popular trend this spring. Designers are using it on everything from scarves to bags to shoes. Some fringe is subtle, like the hem of a scarf; other uses are over-the-top, with two to three-inch fringe flowing from the edge of a bag. Definitely a fun way to spice up your look!

4. Neck scarves. Another trend to look for this spring, according to Harper’s Bazaar is the neck scarf. This mainstay of the 1950s is one of my favorite trends, and has been seen on the runways this spring. I love this accessory because it is super affordable and an easy way to add a vintage feel to any outfit.

5.¬†Black and white. In Style magazine calls pairing black and white a spring trend that you don’t even have to wait for warm weather to wear. This look is easy to create. A pair of black jeans with a white tee or sweater makes an ideal canvas for adding just a bit of color, like this pretty electric blue weekender bag. (Hint: you don’t have to be going on a trip to wear this bag. It’ll hold your laptop or your tablet as well as all of your essential gear. Could be another contender for a yoga bag‚Ķdecisions, decisions!)

6. Modern global crafts. Vogue magazine emphasizes modern crafts for spring, 2014. The Shiva navy backpack mentioned above is right in line with this colorful trend. So is this Guatamalan style woven bracelet that combines traditional Indian designs with Swarovski crystals.

It may be cold right now where you live, but it’s not too early to be thinking of spring fashion. Accessories make sprucing up your spring wardrobe easy and affordable.

I hop you all enjoyed this post and that will work some fun accessories into your new wardrobe. Happy Friday I love you guys.

Dress: JBR Clothing¬†Have you ever seen an article of clothing that was your¬†personality made into a garment? Well this H &¬†R London Polka dot dress was so me I knew we deserved each other ūüėČ With its black and white polka dot print, classic swing dress shape, tulle underskirt, and fantastic pleated collar this dress is the embodiment of pinup. Not only was this dress visually “me” but the fit is spectacular. The H&R London dresses have a tendency to run on the small side but they provide a size chart that is positively spot on, so need to worry about the dreaded size gambling game. My measurement are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ and the medium is a gorgeous fit.

High Heels: DSW yes yes I wear these shoes too much, but am I sorry? Absolutely not.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a very Happy Valentines! PS if you’re looking for a last minute gift you couldn’t go wrong with a¬†gift certificate from JBR Clothing or¬†you could even buy yourself your own Valentines gift. No need to wait around to get what you really want. Love you guys!

Fashion Friday Featuring Queen Of Heartz Pt. 1

This week’s Fashion Friday will be featuring Queen of Heartz, an amazing clothing company specializing in 1940’s and 1950’s styled pieces. Queen of Heartz was created by the incredibly talented Letty Tennant. Originally Letty was making her gorgeous pieces out of her garage for friends in the Los Angeles pinup scene. Well inevitably word got out and everyone wanted one of¬†Mrs Tennant’s¬†designs. Local boutiques started carrying her stock and her popularity grew even more. So being¬†armed with an eye for detail, and the education of a design graduate from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA¬†Letty Tennant set out on her next adventure and¬†established Queen of Heartz in 2001.

All of Queen of Heartz products are made locally in Los Angeles and Orange County with the greatest care and finest textiles,¬†plus on top of all that should you have a special occasion or just the desire to,¬†you can commission a custom piece! Just consider Letty and her team your own personal pinup Fairy Godmother ūüėČ

Fashion Friday Featuring Punkabilly

This week’s Fashion Friday will be featuring Punkabilly Clothing. Punkabilly is the¬†result of Tom, a man with a passion for punk rock and rockabilly, meeting Naomi,¬† a highly rated model scout who had always dreamt of becoming a fashion¬†designer. Someone who understands the punk/rockabilly culture and someone who truly understands fashion?¬†A match made in heaven if you ask me. They’re based out of Bangkok Thailand and ship their products worldwide, in fact you get free shipping when you purchase $100¬†worth of pieces, and let¬†me tell you $100 will get you pretty far. One of the problems I run into with dressing the way I do is that the pinup/rockabilly style can get very expensive! Punkabilly has fabulous prices but doesn’t skimp on quality. My dress is 95% cotton 5%¬†spandex making it sturdy, but comfortable enough to wear for everyday occasions. I actually¬†wore this¬†for Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve, so comfort was pretty important. My measurements are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ so I got a size large, and it is a perfect fit, so I’d say they remain true to size. I know how that can always be a bit of a gamble when purchasing items online,¬†so no¬†need for worry here.
