Fashion Friday Featuring Heart of Haute Pt. 1

This week I will be featuring Heart of Haute, an incredible clothing company who makes their pinup inspired pieces with “Love and No Regrets” meaning you can feel good about your purchases. No sweatshop labor and it’s all made in the USA! How stellar is that? This San Dimas California based company specializes in 50’s and 60’s style clothing, from tops to skirts and wiggle to swing dresses they have it all, and in a myriad of beautiful prints I might add 😉

6538656665346528661565146517Adorable with or without a cardigan…but 33 degrees without any extra covering is bit too intense for this southerner. 6599trying desperately to stay warm.

65826550Quick dress twirl then a dash inside to escape the cold.

Pearls: Macy’s

Cardigan: Old Navy bought it years ago but they still have similar ones available.

Dress: Heart of Haute  This dress is positively beautiful, I am so infatuated with the neckline! I love that just hanging on to the shoulder’s look, and because of the adjustable elastic sleeves it can be worn a little more off the shoulder if you’re looking to be extra daring 😉 The cut of this dress is phenomenal, it accentuates everything you want it to, yet hides what is typically not our best asset, if you want to make that previous statement into a pun feel free haha. Not only is this dress 100% cotton which I love, but its a sturdy cotton. Don’t you hate when your clothes are thin as crepe paper? This dress is built to last, quality construction, sturdy fabric, and a silhouette that will NEVER go out of style. I received a size small and because of the elastic in the arms it fits beautifully. My measurements are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ so I should technically be a medium but the small fits me just fine. However keep in mind if the dress you choose has “restricted” construction (no stretch) I’d go with what the size chart says just to be safe. I am absolutely thrilled with this dress and will be wearing it often.

Pantyhose: Nordstrom

Shoes: DSW  I know you’re probably tired of seeing these shoes but what can I say? They are my go to pinup shoes, not too high of heel, all weather wearability, and a lovely shade of red.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check out Heart of Haute . Happy Friday I love you guys!

Fashion Friday featuring Go Insane

This week’s Fashion Friday will be featuring Go Insane a wonderful company that specializes in 40’s/50’s pinup, rockabilly, and punk inspired pieces that any vintage/alternative fashion lover would be thrilled to have! I came across this Würzburg Germany based company through twitter of all places. Within a matter of seconds of perusing through their products I had determined I wanted EVERYTHING! Skirts, dresses, cardigans, jewelry, etc… Go Insane has it all, and not just for the ladies, they carry men’s clothing as well! http://stores.ebay.de/go-insane
1713Clearly I couldn’t get everything they offer 😉 So I landed on their Hibiscus Swing Dress. I don’t know that I’ve ever loved a dress so much. The print is classic, the cut is positively perfect, the full skirt hides any sort of issue one might have with their hips, the cinched in waist gives that glorious hour-glass shape, and the keyhole detailing adds just the right amount of flirtation. *This may be TMI* but I like to give you ladies as much info on products as possible, I was a little concerned about the adorable keyhole being an issue because basically all bras will show, but this dress was well thought out, the bust of this dress is well lined for modesty. Hooray for no undergarment concerns. My measurements are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ so I ordered a medium and the dress fits just how I like, there is enough room for me to take really deep breaths (my ribcage can really expand you guys) but the dress doesn’t look too big when I am relaxed. 17431733181218081879I181817801833171417601839Flower Clip: Bough it at a craft fair but Claires has a similar one http://www.claires.com/store/us/goods/hair/cat1260200/barrettes+%26+clips/p65480/glitter+edge+flower+clip/

Cardigan: H&M http://www.hm.com/us/product/06981?article=06981-I

Why I should’ve grown up in the 50’s!

It is no secret that I adore the 50’s. So I thought I might do a post on why I should’ve been around during that time!

1. The cars!!! Oh my word the cars from the 50’s are art in motion!

2. The music! I for one am more of a Cash fan than a Presley! I mean Elvis is great and all, but no one can touch Johnny Cash!

3. The hairstyles! No lazy ugly hair here! Even when the women would put their hair up in a ponytail it was still gorgeous!

4. The clothes! My goodness why oh why are these styles not the norm anymore?

5. What was considered beautiful for the time! Back when the women who were the icons of beauty actually had normal looking figures! Now I will not say only real women have curves, because there are plenty of girls who are naturally very slim! All I am saying is that the beauty industry and media of today push girls to unrealistic “body ideals”! It is not ok to over eat nor is it ok to starve yourself! Natural is always more beautiful! So accept the body you have and take care of it! Sorry enough preaching 😉

6. The way guys looked! I for one am a total sucker for a retro style on a man!

Oh my goodness I just love Bing Crosby and Bob Hope! Now there are some funny men!

7. Dating! Now I know the dating scene in the 50’s was probably nowhere near as innocent as it has been portrayed, but it was probably a good deal more innocent than today’s dating! The rules of dating were a good deal more clear then too! The guy’s asked the girls out, the guys picked up the check, or they made sure you knew that you were going dutch, and they were good deal more respectful of personal boundaries. Boy things sure were different back then!

I really hope you all enjoyed this post and my rambling 😉 Happy Tuesday! I love you guys!
