Fashion Friday Featuring AC Clothing Pt 1.

Yes! Week 3 and I still haven’t dropped the ball on blogging! Haha I have to admit though I almost didn’t make it, I didn’t know what I was gonna post about, but hallelujah my parcel from Apostolic Clothing showed up just in time for me to crank out a shoot and a review.

Apostolic Clothing was founded on the principle of  providing fun and fashionable modest pieces. In a world or extremes it can often be hard to find clothing that is modest without it looking like a gunny sack as well as finding clothes that are on trend but still leave a little to the imagination. So coming across AC is like breathing in a breath of fresh air. You can read more about the beliefs and principles of the company here.

Now onto the fun bit! PICTURES!

Skirt: Apostolic Clothing Can we just take a minute to appreciate how fun the print of this skirt is? I absolutely adore the pattern just the right amount of quirky and feminine. The cotton/poly blended material itself feels very sturdy no flimsy tissue paper skirt here, and the size chart is very accurate, I’d suggest though if you do fall between sizes to size up. My waist measures 27.5 inches and the medium is precisely for that measurement, so there’s not really any wiggle room there, so just keep that in mind whilst ordering. All in all I am incredibly happy with my new skirt and I have a feeling I will be getting a lot of wear out of this fun little number.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, that you check out Apostolic Clothing, and that you keep an eye out for Pt 2 of this feature. Til then happy Friday my lovelies.

Fashion Friday Get’s White Hot With Unique Vintage

Bonjour! How are you all doing? Thankfully it hasn’t been as long since we’ve spoken last, I really am going to try and keep with my posting schedule, but I can’t make any promises 😉

This week I am featuring Unique Vintage yet again… Yes I know I do a lot of features of UV clothes but I haven’t heard any complaints, and if I do…well I can’t say I’d care. I adore my UV Darlings!

Hair Flower: A lovely handmade gift from Miss Amy May

Dress: Unique Vintage God bless the person who constructed this white cotton masterpiece. I can’t recall the last time I wore a dress that has made me as happy as this one. I can honestly say that I would be more than happy to get married in this dress (of course that’s not happening anytime soon haha) but seriously that’s just how beautiful I feel in this number. The bodice is slightly structured so no weird lumps and bumps from floppy fabric, and of course since its haltered you can adjust to your specification, The fit is so spot on, it basically feels like I custom fit. I think this might be one of the most flattering silhouettes I’ve ever worn, even with my less than average proportions the size chart was incredibly accurate. Now talking about sizing here comes the sad news, I snagged this number during a sale and as everyone knows dresses that go on sale always run out of sizes so right now they only have medium 😦 but the good news is its still on sale for $50 so if medium is your size by all means snatch this dress while you still can! Also you ladies who are not medium don’t think for one second I’m neglecting you, I think this dress could make an excellent substitution.

Fashion Friday Featuring Unique Vintage

Hello my lovely readers, how are all of you? I know its been absolute ages since I’ve posted anything! I’ve missed all of you and I’ve missed blogging. My life has undergone a few new changes mainly a new job (Hallelujah) so adjusting to my busier schedule has taken a bit, but here is hoping I’ve finally got things sorted so more regularly scheduled posts will happen! Okay enough of my excuses 😉 now onto this weeks feature!

The one the only Golightly Dress from Unique Vintage.

Dress: Unique Vintage The Golightly is made up of everything I love in a dress: 100% cotton, available in a variety of colors and patterns, flattering to all shapes and sizes, true to fit, has adjustable straps, a full skirt that is just begging for a hearty twirl, as well as some seriously adorable details going on, I mean just look at that bow, and best of all POCKETS!!!! Does anything top that? I’m seriously enamored with this dress, I love how easy this little number can be dressed up or down, and I know for certain its going to transition into fall and winter seamlessly. As I stated before this dress is true to size, but since my proportions are a bit off I found the waist to be a bit loose on me, so I threw on a belt to cinch it in and that works just fine, so if you have a similar shape but are worried about sizing no need to fret with just a tad of accessorizing or even alterations you’ll be golden. Oh also the Golightly in the red colourway and the navy and white gingham (which I own) are currently discounted so I say you oughtta snag yourself one while you still can.

Fashion Friday Featuring Lil Lou Lou’s Pt. 1

Hey guys and dolls I hope you’re all doing well, sorry its been a while between posts but I caught a gnarly cold, flew out of state for a few days, and then caught some new cold like sickness from my plane ride back home, UGH! But I am finally on the mend and ready to get back to blogging, and what a fun brand I have to feature this week.

Lil Lou Lou now if the name alone doesn’t get you excited allow me to enlighten you on this awesome company. This wonderful brand specializes in pinup/rockabilly hair accessories and children’s clothing, which sounds simple enough, but I can’t tell you how many times I have been let down by supposed pinup hair accessories, you know the ones I’m talking about. The hair scarves that are just too short to actually make a decent bow, or the hair flowers that look more like wilted flowers after a few wears. Well the owner/designer and all around sweetheart Lily Dueñas understands these frustrations and only supplies wonderful products that you’ll happily wear for a long time. The designs are gorgeous, the construction is high quality and super functional, and you should also be happy to know all the products are proudly manufactured in the grand ole US of A. Basically this is a brand I am more than happy to get behind.

Look 1.0433053804990431modeling is clearly my calling 😉

Cute Knotted Bows: Lil Lou Lous oh my lands I just love these cute little bows. I actually wear my hair in “kitten ears” pretty often cause its an easy pinup do, but it can be a little lack luster at times, well til now that is. The knotted bows add that perfect finishing touch to an otherwise simple hair do.

Minnie Headband: Lil Lou Lous This has got to be one of the most appropriately named accessories ever, I mean who doesn’t want to be as adorable as minnie mouse? I love how easy this headband is to wear, since the minnie is elasticized  you can just pop it on and not worry about it falling off, which if you’re anything like me that’s a huge selling point! I absolutely hate when my bandanas and bows fall. Also the bow portion can be tied anyway you desire, huzzah to customizable pieces!

Jivin Skirt: Lil Lou Lous unfortunately for you guys I got the last rocket ads print for adults but they have a lovely white as well as a fun blue novelty print that I’ll be featuring soon 😉

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that none of you have caught this terrible cold going around! Check out Lil Lou Lou and be on the look out for Pt 2 of the feature. Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday Restricted Shoes Pt. 3

Hello cats and kittens, I hope you have all had a lovely week. I most certainly have, because I have been having a blast putting together blog posts for you all to (hopefully) enjoy, and I was particularly excited to share this final Restricted Shoes series feature with you, because man oh man these heels are stunning!

Shoes: Restricted  See what I mean? Aren’t these babies gorgeous? To me they look like the kind of shoes Audrey Hepburn would wear, and if you know me at all that’s just about the highest compliment you could possibly receive. Again Restricted just knocks it out of the park with the pointed toe, which is so classically high fashion you cant help but feel tres chic, the heel height is just a bit taller than a kitten heel, which is great for me, because for some strange reason I stumble around more in a kitten heel than a stiletto. Please tell me I’m not the only one. Oh and the bow detailing adds just the perfect amount of playful femininity to put these heels in a category all their own. I’m really loving these heels, because they’re classy and grown up, but they’re not the least bit stuffy or tragically “practical”, and I happen to think these shoes will pair perfect with most party dresses this holiday season so that’s another bonus there.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and the whole Restricted shoes series for that matter. Happy Friday and I will talk to you all again soon!

Fashion Friday Featuring Restricted Shoes Pt 2.

Well a very happy November to you all! Oh gosh I just love that, wishing you a happy November!  Since we’re finally moving into “winter” Texas is getting the rain it so desperately needs and clearly I could not be more thrilled. I was ever so slightly concerned that it might dampen (haha see what I did there?) our photoshoot, but I think it just highlighted my gorgeous flats from Restricted Shoes all the more. Don’t you?

Shoes: Restricted Shoes What a fun spin on the classic oxford!!! The cutout detailing brings a breath of fresh air and a touch of edge to an old favorite, the pointed toe for me is synonymous with high fashion, and the color combo of white and mint keep these bad boys perfectly playful and oh so 50’s! I’m really enjoying these flats a great deal. I’ve had some really bad experiences with ballet flats causing gnarly blisters but the Gimmie is made from really soft faux leather so no blisters for me! Thank God! So I guess what I am saying is these are an all around great pair of flats ❤

I hope you all enjoyed this Pt 2 piece on Restricted Shoes and that you have a very Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday Featuring Daddy-O’s

This week’s Fashion Friday will be featuring Daddy O’s  a company I came across when I first started my journey into pinup, so you can imagine my excitement when I finally got to feature them here on my blog.

Unlike many of the companies and stores that I feature Daddy O’s caters to gentlemen as well. Yes so that means the fella in your life can be sporting some equally stylish duds, from Bowling shirts to belts they’ve got it all, in fact they even carry bowling shirts for little boys, which I have got to say is one of the cutest things ever…and I’m already planning outfits for my little nephew 😉

Since Daddy O’s carries a number of brands such as Stop Staring, Steady Clothing, and Lucky 13 just to name a few, you are guaranteed to find something suited just for you.  I ended up falling in love with this little number from Stop Staring and I’m sure you can understand why.

Dress: Daddy O’s Where do I begin with this dress? The fabulous lapels? The fact that the halter is gorgeous but can also be removed if you’re feeling like being sassy and strapless? Or should I just talk about what jumped out at me most? THE PEPLUM DETAILING! Is there anything more classically feminine and wondrously flattering as peplum? I ordered a medium and I’d say it fits quite well, as a reference for you my measurements are 36″ 27.5″ 36″. Now I have a few wiggle dresses but most of them have been made from a thicker material so I might recommend wearing shapewear with this particular dress, I should have honestly, but most of my clothes are still in boxes, oh the joys of moving house 😉 But anyway back to the dress, its a stunner of a piece and I can see it easily being a pinup staple that gets worn all year round! In conclusion I am thrilled with my choice.

Shoes: Payless/Similar

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check Daddy O’s out. Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Featuring Malco Modes

Hello guys and dolls, that is assuming the occasional guy stumbles across my blog, I keep it pretty girly here haha.  Anway this week I will be doing another feature on the best petticoat/crinoline company around, Malco Modes!

To me there isn’t anything sadder than a swing skirt or dress not living up to its full voluminous potential, all that fabric deserves to be delightfully puffy and cloud like, am I right? But where is a pinup girl to turn? There are soooo many petticoat and crinoline options out there it can be seriously overwhelming, and if you’re anything like me too many options result in a choice not being made at all. Well let me take you by the hand and guide you to where you and your swing skirt/dresses need to be getting their support.

I’m still in the beginning stages of putting together my dream pinup wardrobe so as of right now I only have two petticoats, both of which are from Malco Modes. Now this may sound as if I’m not in a position to really tell you who you should be buying from but keep this in mind, just because I only own from one company doesn’t mean I haven’t tried on other companies. I may look a little more high maintenance than most but I do not sacrifice comfort, I’ve tried on different petticoats and crinolines from other companies and everytime they have felt incredibly itchy and uncomfortable, stiff fabric is great at holding out that skirt of yours, but it also feels a bit like a cheese grater on your skin…thanks but no thanks.  Malco Modes on the other hand is incredibly comfortable, their petticoats are made from cotton candy soft chiffon, and their crinolines are made from nylon net with a nylon organza as the bottom layer so it doesn’t scratch your legs in the least, and because of the handcrafted quality of these pieces the volume pay off they provide is stunning!

To me the answer as to who you should get your petticoats and crinolines from couldn’t be any clearer. Malco Modes is a 100% made in the USA company, all of their pieces are hand crafted ensuring phenomenal long lasting quality, and the comfort level their pieces provide is out of this world! What more could you possibly want? 123512731189PicMonkey CollageI can only keep the whole dignified modeling thing up for so long…I mean do you really expect me to not jump on the bed?

Crinoline: Malco Modes I was a bit worried that nothing could live up to my first petticoat but Malco Modes knocked it out of the park yet again. The size chart is spot on, this crinoline is so bouncy and full and gives such a fun life to any swing skirt/dress, and the variety of colors offered is just insane. I’m already trying to decide which colors I need next haha. I have a petticoat and crinoline addiction and I have no intention of giving it up either 😉

If you’re in the market for an excellent petticoat or crinoline just do yourself a favor and order from Malco Modes, you won’t regret it I promise!

Hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a great weekend full of giggles and big skirts

One Piece Multiple Possibilities

Hello all I hope you’re having a great week so far. I thought it would be fun to do another “transitional fashion” post but instead of a from day to night look I thought it would be fun to show you all how with the help from some select accessories and styling tips you can change the look of a romper completely.

I decided to go with my two favorite style aesthetics, both of which could not be more polar opposite, but seriously where is it written that you can’t like a little bit of everything when it comes to style?

Look 1. Pinup Inspired

Because of the casual nature of a romper I decided to keep my hair simple, rolled bangs, a little bit of a bouffant working, and the rest of my hair down and curled all set off with a cute little bandana. I of course ignore how casual the romper is when it comes to my makeup though, a classic red lip and a winged liner is just a must have to for me, and to set the look off I paired a wide red belt to define my waist and a pair of heels to make my legs look a little longer and leaner than they actually are.front and backdetails9230923893009242

Bandana: Target

Earrings: Kohls

Bra Top: Onzie

Romper: H&M/Similar

Belt: Vintage/Similar

Heels: DSW/Similar

Look 2. Bohemian inspired.

See what I mean about polar opposites? For a fun bohemian look I went a little more “intricate” with my hair doing a fun twisted crown and some soft romantic curls to set it off, kept the makeup very simple and luminous, piled on the jewelry I’ve never heard of such a thing as too much turquoise, added a brown braided belt, again to define my waist, and kimono to give the look some movement. Then threw on some cowboy boots for a bit of a rustic edge.

0126PicMonkey Collage0243017402300283

Jewelry: The choker my mother made and I believe all the other pieces were bought at pow wows. Honestly pow wows are the greatest places to find gorgeous turquoise jewelry and I like supporting artists as opposed to companies. Do a little research and see if there are any pow wows taking place in your town, and don’t worry if you’re not Native American every pow wow I have ever been to has been open to the public. However if there aren’t any pow wows taking place near you I did find this site (Indian Village Mall) that sells gorgeous Native American wears.

Kimono: Cotton bought it ages ago but I love this Kimono from Forever 21 as an alternative

Romper: H&M /Similar

Belt: Vintage/Similar

Boots: Atwoods supply store/Similar

Which look was your favorite? Do you have a tendency to have polar fashion favorites or is it just me? Drop me a line I love hearing from you guys.

Hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did. Happy Wednesday!

Fashion Friday From Day To Night

Hello and a very Happy Friday to you all. I thought I might switch things up a little bit this Friday and give you two different looks from the same outfit. Isn’t it amazing the power accessories have? With just a few swaps you can make your outfit go seamlessly from daytime casual to elegant evening.

Look 1. Day time casual. I wore precisely this outfit to have a lunch date with a dear friend, and afterwards I did a little walking around and even a little shopping. This outfit is everything I like for a chill day out: Stylish but not terribly overdressed (at least by my standards), and it’s completely functional, the large purse means I can carry all of the junk I think I need 😉 and the sneakers mean I wont complain about every step I take the way I do in most heels.9776bags9794

Bag: Vintage. Alternative at H&M

Look 2. Pinup inspired glamour. Now admittedly after my day out I got ” all dolled up” for this alternative look but didn’t actually go anywhere haha. I do think this outfit would work beautifully for a fancier night out though, don’t you?

So there you have it, two very different looks from one outfit. I hope you enjoyed this post and be sure to let me know if you would like to see more outfit transitions. I do have one in the works after this post. But if you guys like em enough I might just make a series out of it. Have a great weekend!
