Fashion Friday!

Wow is it Friday already? This week flew by pretty quick…that tends to happen when you sleep the week away, I hadn’t been feeling terrific, but I felt pretty good on Thursday, so I got a little more stylish than the sweats and drab t-shirt look I had been sportin’ all week, nothing like a cute outfit to lift your spirits huh? So here it is my lovelies Fashion Friday!

Earrings: World Market.

Necklace: Belonged to Pop.

Bracelet: Belonged to my Grandma.

Owl Ring: Charlotte Russe. My little sister got it for me, isn’t that sweet?

Denim Jacket: Stole it out of my mom’s closet.

Brown Tank: Old Navy.

Black mini: H&M got this skirt for under $6! Gotta love that!

Anklet: I won a giveaway for a gift card to Dress911.com from http://pinuppersuasion.com/ and bought this sweet little thing.

Flip flops: Old Navy.

Well as I was writing this I couldn’t help but notice that the majority of this outfit is made of up stuff that belonged to family members. Pretty neat, you never know where you might find your favorite fashion pieces. What are some of your favorite fashion finds? And where did you get them? A store, grandma’s jewelry box, or your mom’s closet? I would love to here from you guys! I hope you all have a very Happy Fashionable Friday and fabulous weekend! Love you guys.

Pin Curls

As someone who adores all things retro, I have recently been trying more vintage ways to style my hair, a week or so ago I tried pin curls and here is how I did them.

1. I started with clean hair (I didn’t have any product so my curls fell at the end of the day, next time I will use some gel or something).

This is what my hair looks like without any styling kinda boring.

2. I parted my hair, and put half in a ponytail holder to keep it out-of-the-way, then I rolled my hair all the way to my scalp, then pinned it with bobby pins.

What it looked like after all my hair was pinned up…ignore my silly face!

3. Then I went to sleep…pretty easy step huh? I found that pin curls are a good deal more comfortable to sleep in than sponge rollers or rag curls. However the pin curls are a good deal looser than what I have achieved with the rag curls or sponge rollers.

I must say I quite like the romantic look of these curls, next time I will use some product and let you guys know if the curls stay any better. Hope everyone has a great weekend and New Years!

What I learned from “Say Yes To The Dress”

So similarly to almost every other girly girl in the world I love watching shows about weddings and the like, but especially Say Yes To The Dress! A show about dresses? What could be better? I know most guys won’t understand…but let’s be honest we don’t really want them to. They have call of duty we have say yes to the dress. Funny enough though both sexes use the same excuse for their entertainment…”yes it’s fun but it’s educational!”. So here are some things that I have learned.

1. My mom is the best! If you have ever seen the show then you know the crazy moms, the ones who feel the need to live vicariously through their daughters, the control freaks, or the just straight up mean! So needless to say I am thankful my mom loves me and supports me with whatever my fashion decision is!

“I do not approve!!!!”

2. Almost every girly bride wants a Pnina Tornai gown! The dresses are beautiful no doubt…however if I am going to drop that kind of cash I would prefer a car! I can’t even imagine spending $30,000 on one thing!

3. Do not ever bring a giant group of people with you! I know there are several people whom you consider very close personal friends, but for goodness sake you don’t need all of them to choose a dress! You don’t have them choose your outfit everyday do you? Multiple people equates to multiple opinions! Save yourself a headache and only bring a select few of supportive friends/family.

“we have opinions and they will be heard!!!!!”

4. You may get to be princess for a day…but that does not mean you suddenly have a royal’s budget for your gown! Know your budget and stick to it! Don’t try on things you will never be able to afford, it will only break your heart!

5. NEVER BRING THE GROOM!!! Sure some people will use the excuse “well this day is about us” uh huh it certainly is but bringing him will only bring complications! You do not need him to tell you how to dress! You were dressing yourself long before he was in the picture.  Most grooms will nit pick just because they feel like they have to add something to the opinion pot, when the reality is if he had not been there and you picked the dress he had ripped apart  for your wedding day, he would think you were beautiful, because every good groom does! I mean have you ever heard of a groom saying “the wedding was great, but darling I wished you had gone another direction with your dress choice”? No you have not because most guys really don’t care, so don’t bring him along!

GROOMZILLA ON THE LOOSE!!!!

6. Randy is amazing enough said!

7. Know exactly what dress you purchased! I have watched several episodes where a bride walks into the fitting room and is unsure whether the dress in there is hers or not! Kleinfelds is huge and mix ups are bound to happen, just make sure you can catch one if it happens!

“Which one is mine???”

8.Vera scares me, the woman is a great at what she does, but her people skills are a little lacking!

9. Stay true to yourself, you want to look like you just a little better on your big day. After all what is fashion forward one year is horribly dated the next. Make sure you can look back at your pictures and smile, not cringe or worse not even recognize yourself!

“What was I thinking???”

10. Lastly, it is easy to get caught up in the craziness that a wedding brings, but remember it is not about a wedding it’s about a marriage! So don’t let people drive you crazy with their opinions and don’t kill yourself trying to impress your guests, it’s not about anyone else it is all about the bride and groom and their marriage! So don’t let the whole point of a wedding get lost in the mad commercialization!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Happy Thursday everyone!

Why I don’t need a curling iron or hot rollers!

It’s that time of year for me, no I’m not talking about the upcoming holidays, it’s the time of year where I feel the need to cut all my hair off because I am bored with what I have! Which is a little crazy cause I have been working so hard at growing it long and keeping it healthy! So instead of going and chopping all my hair off I decided I would just change-up how I normally style my hair. I didn’t want to damage my hair though, I  mean I could’ve straightened it with the hot iron, curl it with the curling iron or hot rollers, or even dye it but like I said before I didn’t want to damage my hair, and all the heat and chemicals is not so nice. Then I remembered about rag curling, what a great idea! No heat required, just a bit of time and some scrap cloth is all you need.

I started with clean wet hair.

Then using scrap fabric I had cut into strips, I wrapped my hair around it and rolled it up.

to where I looked something like this.

I used the rag curls somewhat like sponge rollers in the fact that I slept with my hair this way. So you can imagine my delight when I woke in the morning and took my hair down and found the springiest curls!

another great thing about these insane curls is they stay all day, and give incredible texture so wearing my hair up is so easy! So easy in fact I decided to pull off a faux bob.

I decided to accessorize with one of my fave hair pieces a flower 🙂 and there you have it rag curls!

No Fear Liquid Eyeliner is Here!

Alrighty another tutorial, this time on liquid eyeliner, for those who are new to it or scared to use it you have nothing to fear. I for one find liquid eyeliner easier to use, I didn’t start out that way, I found it kind of difficult at first but after some practice it became a breeze. Before we get into it let me say everyone has different needs when it comes to eyeliner, different eye shapes, skin texture, and eye shape will all change how you need to go about putting it on so keep this in mind. For those who are starting out might I suggest using pencil as a guideline (I don’t do this normally but I’ve been at this for about 3 years) I use zuzu and line close to the lash line

Then pull your eyeliner out for a more cats eye effect

now from here we move on to the liquid eyeliner. I normally use zuzu liquid liner because I prefer its staying power (doesn’t flake or smudge terribly) and that it has a more matte finish, however it is a little difficult to remove (olive oil and soap are what I use for removal) so I will be using l’oreal lineur intense much easier to get off which is a pro, and con it flakes during the day :/

Starting at the tear duct area go over the pencil line with the liquid liner. I find it best to keep eyes open (some people close an eye while putting on liquid I find it harder that way but that may just be me) I also find that I have more stability if I rest my hand on my face while putting on liquid liner.

now if you make any mistakes its fine you can go over them with a q-tip, now from here you can build your cat’s eye as much as you like some like just a slight flick others like a much more dramatic look (I prefer drama but this look is between the two for me)

Hope this has helped! Love you guys!

Best Friend, Advice Giver, and Mom…I love you!

In order for anyone to know me they first need to meet my mom. Its more than just a mother daughter bond we share we are truly best friends! Honestly I love my mom more than anyone in this world! You know those proud parents that are convinced that they have the most wonderful children in the world? Ya well I’m worse when it comes to my mom. She is the best period. no questions asked! I am always looking for a reason to brag on her! Honestly the woman has had some of the coolest jobs ever! She was a dolphin/sea-lion trainer, vet tech, saloon girl for six flags, set designer, and teacher to all us crazy kids!

On top of all of that my mom is also my biggest hero! I mean how many of us can honestly say they have lived their whole lives with their biggest hero? My mom is smart, funny, creative, caring, brave, and to top that off she is also one of the most beautiful people I have ever known! She is crazy beautiful inside and out!

She encourages me, challenges me, and blesses me everyday, I am truly blessed to call her mom and best friend. I love you mom and I don’t nearly say it enough!

Thanks for being adventurous and giving me great memories of camping.

Thank you for teaching me that life is too short to take it too seriously. And making me laugh so hard I cry.

Thank you for teaching me to take a break every now and then.

Thank you for teaching me what a loving wife looks like.

And finally thank you for being my mom and loving me unconditionally. I love you!!!!

Wesley “Weasel” Forshaw an angel among us.

So as some of you may or may not know I lost my pop when I was only 4 years old, he died in a car accident, and to this day I know how precious and short life can be. I have never met a man so loving as my pop. He never knew a stranger and was never lacking for a joke, he was the life of the party and the best friend to everyone who knew him.

Part of the reason I love photography so much is that it captures a moment in time, and even part of who someone was or still is. I love to go through all the pictures of my pop, I am so thankful I have them, it has shown me that pictures are more than art, but they are a time capsule to bring you back, or to bring others to a world they would never had known without those pictures.

My pop was a jack of all trades, he was a gunfighter at six flags, a professional framer at MJ Designs, and an actor.

But more than that he was a wonderful friend, loving husband, and amazing father! I am so blessed to have had him as a father.

Photography Master – Beth Dreyer

As all of you know I am an aspiring photographer, but what you may not know is that I only became interested in portrait photography because of the ever fabulous Beth Dreyer!

I knew I wanted to be a photographer but I had no idea how to go about making that happen, so my mom suggested that I talk to Beth (she and I go to the same church), and boy am I glad I did. She has taught me so much about photography its unbelievable. Not only did she take time out of her busy schedule to teach me she also let me tag along on her shoots! So after seeing the true art behind portrait photography I have really fallen in love with it. I always look forward to tagging along on shoots to learn and also sometimes help out, one time Beth being the dedicated photographer she is, had me hold her as she leaned off a fence to get a good shot! haha the things we photographers do for a good shot! She has been a great example! and I am so thankful to have someone so dedicated to their art teaching me and if you have anyone like her in your life count yourself a lucky person. I know I am 😀
