Costumes You Can Wear Again: Mime

I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to post today as I was feeling rather lousy but thankfully I am feeling much better and have a rather fun costume to share!

I don’t know why it took me this long to put together a mime costume, its so simple and most of us probably have a striped shirt, dress, etc that would totally work to pull this look off. Just add a few finishing touches like a beret, some outrageous makeup, and even some gloves if you really want to amp the look up, and you have a fantastic costume that looks like it took actual planning to piece together ūüėČIMG_33903419IMG_3363IMG_3437IMG_3395IMG_34573421IMG_3452IMG_3505And of course I had to pose with our little scarecrow people.

Fashion Friday Featuring Miz Mooz

Woo hoo we have made it through yet another work week, aren’t Friday’s just the best? Even when I do work the weekends I still look forward to Fridays because I really do love posting my Fashion Fridays, and when I have a brand or product that I’m excited to share with you all I’m especially anxious for the weekend to get here.

Well as far as I was concerned this weekend couldn’t get here soon enough, because I have found the most adorable outrageously comfortable shoes in existence, and they are from the absolutely stellar company Miz Mooz. This extraordinary brand started off in a basement in New York City, and in traditional New York City style they grew to incredible heights, and now have their products stocked by several independent retailers. If you check out their products you are sure to see why they have had such success. I’m a relatively picky person so its rare for me to like several products from one company, but I can honestly say I would wear every single pair of shoes Miz Mooz has. Their attention to detail is really the clincher for me, so many companies have almost identical looking products, because let’s face it you can only reinvent the “heel” so many times ūüėČ but somehow Miz Mooz manages to capture the classic elements every shoe lover looks for yet still have that unique edge every individual wants.
29643004316631393332PicMonkey CollageBecause breaking in a new pair of heels requires one to twirl…its a very scientific process ūüėČ

Heels: Miz Mooz¬†How¬†do I even begin to explain the Safari’s? The Safaries are flawless, haha but seriously these heels are absolutely wonderful, the oxford and wing tip details make them a stylish classic everyone will love and want, but beauty isn’t everything you know. How many of us have a pair (or several pairs) of shoes that we bought just because they’re pretty, only to later realize we made a huge mistake, and these pretty shoes feel about as good as walking on legos? Well Miz Mooz knows their stuff and has created ¬†a beautiful pair of shoes that just so happen to also be the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever worn. The stacked heel is a reasonable height so its easy on your arches, there is a built in cushion too so that’s especially good for your arches, and these shoes are made out of the softest smoothest leather I’ve ever experienced, I could probably run in these and not get a single blister. In fact these shoes are so perfect I’m a little angry, thank you Miz Mooz for ruining me for all other shoes haha ūüėČ

So if you’re in the market for some great shoes I highly recommend you make the investment and get yourself a pair from Miz Mooz, you will not be sorry.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a great weekend. Happy Friday my loves.

Costumes You Can Wear Again: Sherlock

Hello all! I have yet another fun Halloween look to share. This week I decided to try my hand at channeling my favorite consulting detective and high functioning sociopath Sherlock!

I have to admit I REALLY love this outfit, the purple dress is very reminiscent of the infamous Purple Shirt of Sex (don’t be alarmed its a fandom thing), I feel like my coat is pretty spot on, my tights remind me ever so slightly of the glorious wallpaper that is in Holmes and Watson’s flat, and what’s more English than a pair of oxfords?

Ya I’m pretty proud of this look and hope you all love it as much as I do.

So what do you guys think? Was I able to do the look justice? Are you a fan of BBC’s Sherlock? If so are you dying for season 4 as much as I am? I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line even if its just to say hi. Happy Wednesday!

One Piece Multiple Possibilities

Hello all I hope you’re having a great week so far. I thought it would be fun to do another “transitional fashion” post but instead of a from day to night look I thought it would be fun to show you all how with the help from some select accessories and styling tips you can change the look of a romper completely.

I decided to go with my two favorite style aesthetics, both of which could not be more polar opposite, but seriously where is it written that you can’t like a little bit of everything when it comes to style?

Look 1. Pinup Inspired

Because of the casual nature of a romper I decided to keep my hair simple, rolled bangs, a little bit of a bouffant working, and the rest of my hair down and curled all set off with a cute little bandana. I of course ignore how casual the romper is when it comes to my makeup though, a classic red lip and a winged liner is just a must have to for me, and to set the look off I paired a wide red belt to define my waist and a pair of heels to make my legs look a little longer and leaner than they actually are.front and backdetails9230923893009242

Earrings: Kohls

Bra Top: Onzie

Romper: H&M/Similar

Belt: Vintage/Similar

Heels: DSW/Similar

Look 2. Bohemian inspired.

See what I mean about polar opposites? For a fun bohemian look I went a little more “intricate” with my hair doing a fun twisted crown and some soft romantic curls to set it off, kept the makeup very simple and luminous, piled on the jewelry I’ve never heard of such a thing as too much turquoise, added a brown braided belt, again to define my waist, and kimono to give the look some movement. Then threw on some cowboy boots for a bit of a rustic edge.

Jewelry: The choker my mother made and I believe all the other pieces were bought at pow wows. Honestly pow wows are the greatest places to find gorgeous turquoise jewelry and I like supporting artists as opposed to companies. Do a little research and see if there are any pow wows taking place in your town, and don’t worry if you’re not Native American every pow wow I have ever been to has been open to the public. However if there aren’t any pow wows taking place near you I did find this site (Indian Village Mall) that sells gorgeous Native American wears.

Kimono: Cotton bought it ages ago but I love this Kimono from Forever 21 as an alternative

Romper: H&M /Similar

Belt: Vintage/Similar

Boots: Atwoods supply store/Similar

Which look was your favorite? Do you have a tendency to have polar fashion favorites or is it just me? Drop me a line I love hearing from you guys.

Hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did. Happy Wednesday!

Fashion Friday From Day To Night

Hello and a very Happy Friday to you all. I thought I might switch things up a little bit this Friday and give you two different looks from the same outfit. Isn’t it amazing the power accessories have? With just a few swaps you can make your outfit go seamlessly from daytime casual to elegant evening.

Look 1. Day time casual. I wore precisely this outfit to have a lunch date with a dear friend, and afterwards I did a little walking around and even a little shopping. This outfit is everything I like for a chill day out: Stylish but not terribly overdressed (at least by my standards), and it’s completely functional, the large purse means I can carry all of the junk I think I need ūüėČ and the sneakers mean I wont complain about every step I take the way I do in most heels.9776bags9794

Blouse: Vintage. Alternative at Forever 21

Belt: Vintage. Alternative at Pinup Girl Clothing

Bag: Vintage. Alternative at H&M

Skirt: Cotton On

Shoes: H&M

Look 2. Pinup inspired glamour. Now admittedly after my day out I got ” all dolled up” for this alternative look but didn’t actually go anywhere haha. I do think this outfit would work beautifully for a fancier night out though, don’t you?

So there you have it, two very different looks from one outfit. I hope you enjoyed this post and be sure to let me know if you would like to see more outfit transitions. I do have one in the works after this post. But if you guys like em enough I might just make a series out of it. Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday Featuring Olan Rogers Apparel

Well I must say its been a while since I’ve done a more casual look on my blog. I’ll be honest I like to really dress up most of the time, and I find that casual clothes kind of bore me, but I positively adore this outfit. Not only is this shirt just incredibly comfortable but for me no shirt can ever beat the classic cut of a baseball tee…and the fact that it’s from Olan Rogers Apparel makes it the king of all baseball tees.

If you’re not familiar with the incredibly hilarious and wildly talented Olan Rogers I beg you to remedy that this instance, you can always come back and finish my blog in a bit. Here is his youtube channel¬†which¬†will¬†entertain you for ages. The way this man tells stories is just incredible, it takes a lot to get me to laugh out loud and Olan manages to have me wheezing with laughter to the point where I practically die ūüėČ The print on this shirt is actually a reference to¬†his video Clues Stained In Ink¬†watch the video and you will understand why I absolutely had to have this stellar shirt.¬†IMG_93609437937695749409PicMonkey Collage 1Drop the Chief!!!97049450945994329594PicMonkey Collage bridge9349bug faceAnd because its basically a tradition here are my “Oh sweet merciful heavens that wasp is getting close” expressions.

Bandana: Target

Shirt: Olan Rogers Apparel¬†As I said before this shirt is incredibly comfortable and just looks awesome. But something even more amazing about this company is its independently owned, the printing is done right here in the good ole US of A, and every shirt bought feeds a needy kid for a day, How amazing is that? ¬†They’re partnered with the incredible Rice Bowls Organization¬†¬†and I can think of no greater cause to get involved in. Be sure to check out their site too and spread the word and wealth, everyone deserves to eat and to eat well.

Shoes: H&M

I hope you guys all enjoyed this post and that you check out Olan Rogers Apparel and Rice Bowls. Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday featuring Norakaren

Hey guys I’m back! Sorry I’ve been slightly lapsed in my postings, I had some last minute travel on top of moving house so things have been a little hectic. But it would appear as though things are starting to calm down so I can get back to one of my favorite things…talking to you all of course, I really did miss my blogging.

This week’s fashion Friday is featuring the fantastic etsy shop Norakaren. Where do I even begin with Norakaren? Well first off Nora sells shoes, and what woman doesn’t already have an affinity for shoes? But Nora takes it a step further by dyeing, painting, and adding crytsals to what are already lovely shoes and by doing so¬†transforms them into something more akin to art you can walk in.

I have to say I’ve always been a sucker for a pair of unique heels, they are that dash of whimsy and color that can turn even the simplest of outfits into a fashion statement. I decided to wear something I would consider office appropriate just to show you what I mean. Give a girl the right shoes and she can do anything…including change stuffy officewear into something fun and flirty.

Shoes: Norakaren I cannot even begin to describe how fun these shoes are, from the crystals on the heels to the blue soles and whimsical cow print you just know you could never find anything like them in a run of the mill shop. Artist like Nora are precisely why I love etsy so much, you’re buying a one of a kind piece that someone has poured their love and talent into. Whether you’re walking down the aisle and want a statement piece or you’re¬†walking around the supermarket and want shoes so pretty Cinderella would trade in prince charming just to own a pair like yours Norakaren is the place to fulfill your wishes. Not only are Nora’s designs stunning but she will also work one on one with you to create a custom pair of shoes sure to please! I cannot encourage you enough to check out this wonderful ladie’s work!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a wonderful weekend. Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday Featuring Desi Roo Clothing

Hey guys I am rather excited to share a fabulous find with you all this week. Whilst surfing through etsy (like one does) I came across the fabulous Desi Roo Clothing, not only are there beautiful accessories to choose from, but all of the blouses offered are so incredibly lovely!

What I especially loved is that a lot of the tops are made from vintage fabric but the blouse itself is new, so there won’t be the hassles that come along with pure vintage¬†pieces like rips, fragility, and mysterious smells/stains. There are a few variations of blouse structure offered: cotton tie shoulder top, ¬†flirty puff sleeve wrap back blouse, and the 1940’s puff sleeve wrap back, plus all the prints and fabrics offered are too numerous and outrageously beautiful to name, if there is a particular color or print you happen to be fond of I bet you can find it. I could honestly buy one in every print and have the most perfect wardrobe that ever was. Oh and another great thing about Desi Roo is that if there is a top you like that just happens to be too large it can be altered for a better fit for only $15!

51605171519852465208525052745313Basically its impossible for me to remain serious ūüėČ

Earrings: Desi Roo Clothing¬†¬†all the beauty of actual Bakelite but none of the potential lead poisoning. I mean who wouldn’t want to don a pair of pastel chrysanthemum earrings?

Blouse: Desi Roo Clothing¬†¬†I love love LOOOVE this blouse! Its just as comfortable as a T-shirt but worlds more stylish. Whether your personal style is that of a vintage inspiration or you’re simply a woman who appreciate a well made spectacular fitting top that can be worn from errands, to the office, and then to a night on the town, then this little number is for you! The fabric is sturdy, doesn’t wrinkle easily, and the fit is superb! Just follow the size chart and you’re good as gold. My measurments are 36″ 27.5″ 36″ and the medium is a perfect fit yay! It can be difficult to look stylish during the warmer months but this blouse was made for spring and summer! The sleeves sit just off the shoulders for a feminine and stylish look that will keep you cool but won’t sacrifice on style!

Pencil Skirt: H&M

Flats: Payless

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check Desi Roo Clothing out! Happy Friday love you all.

Fashion Friday Featuring Corset Story

Hooray it’s Friday and boy¬†do I have a great feature for you all, this week I am featuring Corset Story.

Corset Story is an online¬†store, that works¬†along side of¬†thousands of international retailers, making them the largest distributers of corsets worldwide. Now before you wrinkle your nose at a “big business” I must let you know when I had questions about sizing I had someone helping me every step of the way with the kind of personal attention you would get from a boutique, but will all of the expertise of a large corporation. Not only is Corset Story an authority¬†on the construction of their garments but they also have an extensive variety of styles, which means¬†whether you prefer the rockabilly look (like I do) or are one of the few people cool enough to pull off the steampunk look (I applaud you) I can guarantee you will find something you want.

Corset: Corset Story Can I just say how much I love this beauty? The ruffle edging, the incredible constructions (You can really cinch that waist in let me tell ya),¬† the ability to wear it¬†dressed up or down, and my all time favorite print makes this the perfect corset in my eyes. My measurements are 36″ 27 1/2″ 36″ and with the expert advice I received¬†I ended up getting a size 24 which fits beautifully thanks to the lace up back. If you have any size questions the team at Corset Story are more than happy to help, but I’d say their size charts are pretty accurate so you may not even need help ūüėČ

I really hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check Corset Story out! Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Irene Adler Inspired

Sunday was the day we have all waited for, well I didn’t wait but that’s besides the point, the third season of Sherlock premiered here in the states.¬†sherlockSo being the crazy fangirl I am I decided to do an Irene Adler inspired look for the occasion. I’ll be honest I hate the character of Irene but The Woman has style.

adlerdetailsSee what I mean? Ever so stylish.
