Fashion Friday Featuring: Harkin Headquarters

Well hello you gorgeous thing you, welcome to 2015! May this year be even better than last and may your fashion continue to grow in its fabulousness.

I must say I am was really excited to post this first Fashion Friday of the New Year. This is the time everyone is making goals and setting out to accomplish them, usually these goals deal with health and wealth. But I believe having fashion resolutions is just as important. This is why I could not be more thrilled to feature Harkin Headquarters. What makes Harkin Headquarters so special you might ask? Well first off the products offered are incredibly stylish, but the core value of HHQ is that of supporting independent artisans. In a world of mass production and shoddy quality its nice to know there are still businesses out there that care about people, quality, and of course style.

The variety of products offered by HHQ is phenomenal from ponchos to headdresses, tapestries to bracelets, this kickass company has it all. Including Keith Harkin merch, which was so wonderfully modeled by my stunning beauty of a sister, and okayishly modeled by me as well ūüėČ

Fashion Friday Featuring: Queen of Heartz Apparel

Hello my loves, I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. I originally had hoped to share the beautiful Brenda from¬†Queen of Heartz¬†before Christmas, because hello this dress just screams Happy Holidays in its gorgeous red…But we all know Christmas time means you never meet deadlines. However¬†that doesn’t mean you have to wait til next Christmas to scoop up this beauty. I happen to think ringing the New Year in a ravishing red is an excellent idea…also Valentines is right around the corner, just sayin.¬†7046734672037066detail shot7130twirlTwirl test: A++ I mean would you just look at that skirt!7351721571827190

Dress: Queen of Heartz¬†I have long since been a fan of the Brenda, I lusted, I coveted, I pined after it, and now it is in my possession. Sometimes after wanting something for so long and finally getting it you feel a little let down, you built it up too high in your mind. But I can honestly say I’m more in love now than I ever was before. The Brenda is actual dress perfection, the skirt is HUGE and swings like a dream, the wide waist band is mind blowingly flattering, and the scalloped edged neckline is so similar to the masterpiece of a gown Rosemary Clooney wears while singing Love Didn’t Do Right By Me in White Christmas I could cry. Letty Tennant is a dress making goddess and every pinup should own at least one of her pieces…Because after the first you’ll be hooked ūüėČ

Restricted Shoes Holiday Look

Closer than ever to Christmas now. So cannot believe it, and sadly this is my last Restricted inspired Holiday Outfit to share. But we’re going out with a bang. Like I said in my last post Restricted and I want to make sure that Christmas spending money you get goes a little further, simply use the discount code SF40 for 40% off sitewide now through January 31st.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to share this look with you all, its a culmination of everything I love, glamorous, but not over the top, detail oriented, and amazingly incredibly comfortable. Seriously I’m itching to wear this outfit again…perhaps for New Years?

I’m never taking them off, and if you know me at all that’s quite a statement, I’m usually the first girl to ditch her heels and brave it barefooted. But Restricted knocked it out of the park with these. So if you’re hunting for the perfect pair of heels pick the Doreens you wont be sorry!

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas full of friends, family, food, fun, and of course fashion! XOXO

Restricted Shoes Holiday Look.

Goodness gracious! How is it almost Christmas? Where did the time go? I hope you’ve all got your shopping done and are able kick back, relax, and enjoy the Holiday Season.

Restricted Shoes and I wanted to help further that relaxation by partnering together to not only give you a couple of Holiday Party Outfit Inspirations, but also provide you with a discount that will definitely help you chill out. Simply use the code SF40 for 40% off sitewide now through January 31st. Andy Williams sings about how this is the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most expensive, so I know how a good bargain is a gift in and of itself.

It seems to me the 60’s look comes in every winter, I mean who doesn’t want to channel their inner Betty Draper at their next holiday party? But you can still stand out and not look like every other doll there. Break away from the traditional reds, greens, and golds and maybe go for a mint. Mint is totally winter acceptable, just look at the Starbucks menu, mint everything! Oh and be sure to add a heaping helping of sparkle, Christmas lights aren’t the only one’s who get to shine darling.

Shoes: Restricted Shoes¬†With their bow detailing and white accents these precious flats are going to make you feel lovelier than a Christmas gift wrapped by Martha Stewart herself. One doesn’t always have to don heels to be glam, and if you live somewhere that gets frequent snow or ice, heels can sometimes be a bit of a hazard. Now I’ll be honest, I didn’t find the material on these flats to be incredibly comfortable on the back of my ankles while bare skinned, but pairing them with tights took all discomfort away. Not mention tights are going to keep the cold at bay, and I’m sure with a bit of wearing in the flats will soften up¬†quite nicely.

So if you’re still looking for the perfect “Cinderella” finishing touch to your outfit might I suggest you check Restricted Shoes.

The Brit and The Belle: Little Miss Savage

Sarah Forshaw (@Forshawsarah) and Miss Amy May ¬†(@miss_amy_may) are southern belle and southern brit pinups, respectively, who found one another on Instagram part way through their pinup transformations in mid 2013, at which point they tentatively, then all of a sudden, become devoted and divine friends. Bonding over their urge to bring full on glamour to their every day lives, their shared opinions on cake, and their fierce nerd hearts, the two quickly began to look upon one another as fabulous sisters–who simply hadn‚Äôt met yet outside the confines of the interwebs. Due to finally meet IRL to share many squishy hugs and swing-skirted spins in fall 2015, they‚Äôre opening up their friendship and their closets to you in this shared blog post while they eagerly await their meeting.

Sarah: Amy and I have been crazy busy lately, so we’ve been a bit delayed in bringing you this post about accessories maker Little Miss Savage, but finally it‚Äôs here!

Little Miss Savage, Emily, hand makes headwraps, necklaces, pins, keyrings and bags/wallets, which she sells on her Etsy store and eBay. When we first came into contact with her we immediately fawned over several of her items, and we were so thrilled when she was kind enough to send us both a selection of cuteness.

PicMonkey Collage

‚ÄčHere are the Grey rose skinny bandana $8.60, Flamingo Original Bandana $10.16, Cup of tea brooch $4.68, Cupcake brooch $4.68, Moth necklace $7.81.

When I first started incorporating pinup looks into my life I found headwraps were one of the easiest ways to achieve a rockabilly/pinup look, and over the years I still find this to be true. I’m much too lazy to pincurl my hair every night, and sometimes you have a last minute outing that you were unprepared for…but you still want to be your cutest most retro babe self, and nothing helps a look get there more than the right accessories. Headwraps are a great way to frame a good hair day, but on the flipside they’re also great for camouflaging a monstrous bedhead hair day, and I can honestly say Little Miss Savage’s head wraps are some of the best I’ve ever worn.

Oh and can we all give Emily a round of applause for her jewelry? The moth necklace I have is so me I cannot even believe it, it‚Äôs a little bit edgy and almost has a Victorian taxidermy feel to it, but it‚Äôs still pretty and girly. And teacup and cupcake brooches? I mean who doesn’t want to indulge in something as sweet as that?

Below are some of the looks I put together using the headwraps. I didn’t use the jewelry in these pics because they kind of got lost, but in person they’re real statement pieces.

‚ÄčBuy me a giant cookie and throw me a party! I finally managed to get some decent bumper bangs. Now when you have a great quiff, pomp, or bumper bangs day the last thing you want to do is mess them up with a tricky bandana scarf situation, this is where Little Miss Savage comes in to play. Emily’s headwraps are made from 100% cotton so they’re not slipping and sliding all about, and you don’t have to worry about folding your scarf just so. Emily has done all the hard work for you by getting rid of cumbersome fabric and leaving you with a streamlined easy to use headwrap that finishes off any look. She’s basically the fairy godmother of the hair accessories world.

Here’s the Music Notes ‘Original’ headwrap ¬£6.49, Anchor ‘Skinny’ headwrap ¬£5.49, Cherry Polka dot ‘Skinny’ headwrap ¬£5.49, Cherry necklace ¬£7.99 and a Pinup Brooch ¬£3.99.

I love the headwraps because I am awful at wrangling headscarves and bandanas, and with a wrap like these all you have to do is throw it on and tie the cute little bow, something I can handle. The availability of them coming as thicker wraps or skinny versions is great because it gives you the choice to have a custom made piece in the width that you most love and the fabric you love–because here’s the awesome thing, Emily hand makes every piece to order so she will create your reversible wrap out of any two fabrics of your choice available in her store. This means that at your request you can have whatever combo you like.

The cherries necklace is adorable. Red is my favourite accessories colour because I find it really pops within a lot of different colour combos. Below I’ve styled it with whites and reds for a classic and casual pinup look but I’ve also worn it with colours like my purple gingham Hell Bunny dress and it totally made the whole look.

I’ve styled some outfits below to show you these cute pieces in action.

Since Sarah has shown you how great it looks to add one of these wraps to a well formed hairdo like her lovely bumper bangs I thought I’d show you the other side of the coin; how useful they are to have around when you’re not doing so well with your hair that day, or in too much of a rush to spend a lot of time crafting yo’ curls.

I have a couple of go-to dos that I whip out when I’m having a busy day or my hair is misbehaving. One of them is what I call the Messy Poodle. It’s like the Lucile ball and carmen Miranda style Poodle Do…but with much less skill. It basically involves piling all of my hair on top of my head as quickly as possible, tweaking only slightly to make sure it doesn’t look totally insane, and then adding a super cute headwrap to detract from my laziness. It’s great on busy work days or when I’m heading out for something more casual.

So if you’re looking for an adorable piece of jewellery or a custom bandanna or two, head over to Little Miss Savage, and while you’re there tell her The Brit & The Belle send her our love!

Fashion Friday Featuring Kenley Collins

Hello my darlings. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are slowly but surely coming out of your turkey induced coma’s. Or if you’re one of those people who go Black Friday shopping I hope you got away without being trampled or having a panic attack. But I have to inform you there is one more thing that needs to be put on your Christmas list. You need to get yourself some Kenley Collins goodness. ¬†Kenley is a prime example of why buying from a designer is such an excellent idea. All the cuts, lines, and silhouettes are carefully and artfully executed, because true designers understand that a fun print isn’t enough to carry a dress. But Kenley definitely likes her fun prints too, so if you like classic and flattering silhouettes but still want fun and unique prints and patterns look no further than Mrs Collins. Her new line an American Geisha is especially fun and unique, but is still classic enough to not look kooky. So do yourself a favor and check it out, odds are you need a new holiday party dress and while everyone else is wearing the bland LBD’s you can be rocking a colorful and lovely Kenley Collins original.¬†599460756234details6399silly fall photosHaving a light snack of foliage…as one does.616360616123

Dress: Kenley Collins¬†Oh this dress though! As any woman knows getting a strapless dress that stays put and looks good is damn near impossible. But this dress flies in the face of reason and says ‘no I will stay put, I wont look like a towel wrapped around you post shower, I will be elegant and lovely, because I have wonderfully supportive boning in the bodice’. I could not be more in love with this dress, the construction is nothing short of miraculous, the print is BEAUTIFUL, size chart is totally on the money accurate, and¬†the material¬†100% cotton so its machine washable!!! I know that may not seem like a big deal to some people but since I’m still a child I hate having to go to the drycleaners ūüėČ Thank you Kenley. I love you and your gorgeous (yet practical) designs!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and that you check out Kenley’s beautiful new line. Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Featuring PUG’s Dames Dress

Hooray! Oh I am absolutely ecstatic to finally be sharing this Fashion Friday with you all. Back in the summer I had the pleasure of modeling for a photographer meetup which was a blast (and seriously intimidating too). Being as I was chosen for my pinup style I figured this shoot was the perfect opportunity to “treat myself” and buy the phenomenal Dames dress from Pinup Girl Clothing.IMG_4243Web4280WebIMG_4314WebIMG_4320Web

I also wanted to share this shot my mother took of my lovely little sister and myself. Rachel’s dress is from Heart of Haute/Similar

Dress: Pinup Girl Clothing¬†Hands down one of the most wonderful dresses I own. I’ve never put this dress on and felt disappointed. I like to call this my confidence dress, every time I wear it I feel so beautiful. The rich red hue is even more beautiful in person and the stretch bengaline material hugs every curve beautifully. It really is PUG’s immaculate construction techniques that set them apart from run of the mill vintage repro companies. When I ordered this dress I was a little worried the size chart was wrong, my measurements are 36″ 27.5″ 36″, which in turn meant I needed a small. A small? I hadn’t been a small ever, but I trusted PUG and ordered according to their size chart and this dress fits like a dream! I love it so much I’m determined to buy it in different colourways now, its just that good. So if you’re on the hunt for the perfect sexy little wiggle dress might I suggest you treat yo self to The Dames Dress.

I love you guys and hope you enjoyed this post and give PUG a gander for all your wiggle dress needs ūüėČ Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday Restricted Shoes Pt. 3

Hello cats and kittens, I hope you have all had a lovely week. I most certainly have, because I have been having a blast putting together blog posts for you all to (hopefully) enjoy, and I was particularly excited to share this final Restricted Shoes series feature with you, because man oh man these heels are stunning!

Shoes: Restricted¬†¬†See what I mean? Aren’t these babies gorgeous? To me they look like the kind of shoes Audrey Hepburn would wear, and if you know me at all that’s just about the highest compliment you could possibly receive. Again Restricted just knocks it out of the park with the pointed toe, which is so classically high fashion you cant help but feel tres chic, the heel height is just a bit taller than a kitten heel, which is great for me, because for some strange reason I stumble around more in a kitten heel than a stiletto. Please tell me I’m not the only one. Oh and the bow detailing adds just the perfect amount of playful femininity to put these heels in a category all their own. I’m really loving these heels, because they’re classy and grown up, but they’re not the least bit stuffy or tragically “practical”, and I happen to think these shoes will pair perfect with most party dresses this holiday season so that’s another bonus there.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and the whole Restricted shoes series for that matter. Happy Friday and I will talk to you all again soon!

Oh and if you want to pick up a pair of shoes for yourself starting December 1st-31st use the discount code SARAHFORSHAW30 for 30% off of your purchase, how great is that?

Olan Roger’s Apparel: Fall Line Feature

Hey guys and dolls I’m so thrilled to be sharing this feature with all of you. As you probably know I’m a huge fan of Olan Rogers and Olan Rogers Apparel, but to be featuring pieces from the new fall line is extra special. Not only are the designs absolutely amazing, but the story behind them is something else entirely. Anyone who watches Olan’s videos knows this man is a complete and utter goof. Honestly its like watching a really large, happy, sugar high child tell a story. But it turns out behind all the hilarity Olan was having a really tough year. Like a lay awake at night have your troubles eat at you, tough year. However,¬†instead of letting all the set backs and frustrations trap him,¬†Olan channeled all that stress and negativity to create what I think to be his strongest line yet.

The entire fall line is about Going to War and not letting life knock you out. That’s definitely something I wanted to support. Because its something I could relate to,¬†this past year has been depressing, maddening, exciting, and scary, sometimes all in the same day. However¬†I learned I’m stronger and braver than I ever imagined. Sometimes life doesn’t pan out the way you planned or even busted your backside to make happen. Yet amazing things can still take place when you keep on truckin…and having some seriously cool uplifting styles never hurt either ūüėČ

Hoodie: Olan Rogers Apparel¬†Thank heavens for hoodies. Its the closest thing to your blanket that’s acceptable to wear around in everyday life, and this particular hoodie may even rival my blanket in its comfort levels, its made from really sturdy cotton poly blend so its great at keeping the cold out, which I was super thankful because Texas went from 75 degrees to 50 overnight, and the design on this piece is so effortlessly cool. Oh and this hoodie is PERFECT for layering, so if you live somewhere like I do where the weather is totally bipolar having a good layering piece is an absolute must.

Sweater: Olan Rogers Apparel¬†This is the¬†piece¬†that started the entire collection and I have to admit its definitely my favorite. Which is saying something because I really love everything from the fall line. First off the design on this sweater is incredible! I mean who wouldn’t want a battle ready bear gracing their shirt? The stone color is so perfectly suited for fall and winter, the classic crewneck cut will never go out of style, and I wish there were words sufficient enough to describe how perfectly soft the inner lining is, maybe this is what its like to be that paper cone they wrap cotton candy around? Oh and if the softness wasn’t enough the warmth will be, its what¬†I imagine swimming in a giant cup of coffee to be like…I think I must be tired, I’m associating everything with sugar and caffeine haha. But seriously this sweater is the best!

I really hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check out Olan Rogers Apparel. This is a company I so wholeheartedly support, the people who run it are amazing, the designs are so fun and unique, every article of clothing I’ve received from them is insanely comfortable, and for every shirt sold a needy child is fed for the day! Now that is the kind of business I want to get behind.

Oh and on a side note the holidays are coming up and shopping for people can be really tough but I happen to think everybody would appreciate some Olan Rogers gear, don’t you? Happy Friday my loves.

Fashion Friday Featuring Restricted Shoes Pt 2.

Well a very happy November to you all! Oh gosh I just love that, wishing you a happy November! ¬†Since we’re finally moving into “winter” Texas is getting the rain it so desperately needs and clearly I could not be more thrilled. I was ever so slightly concerned that it might dampen (haha see what I did there?) our photoshoot, but I think it just highlighted my gorgeous flats from Restricted Shoes all the more. Don’t you?

Shoes: Restricted Shoes¬†What a fun spin on the classic oxford!!! The cutout detailing brings a breath of fresh air and a touch of edge to an old favorite, the pointed toe for me is synonymous with high fashion, and the color combo of white and mint keep these bad boys perfectly playful and oh so 50’s! I’m really enjoying these flats a great deal. I’ve had some really bad experiences with ballet flats causing gnarly blisters but the Gimmie is made from really soft faux leather so no blisters for me! Thank God! So I guess what I am saying is these are an all around great pair of flats ‚̧

I hope you all enjoyed this Pt 2 piece on Restricted Shoes and that you have a very Happy Friday!
