Costumes You Can Wear Again (sort of): Flapper

Hey cats and kittens so this week’s Costumes You Can Wear Again might just be dancing on the edge of being able to be worn again.

But I liked this outfit too much so much I had to share, and if you like something enough you kind of adopt a “to hell with acceptable clothes” mentality,  and now that I think about it I have dressed as a flapper on 3 different occasions, so maybe its a more wearable look than I realized! 😉3881Just casually dancing on the edge of acceptable fashion choices 😉3903faux bob394040643893392138474094

Fashion Friday Vintage Flair.

Today’s Fashion Friday is of a look I put together after doing my hair. Isn’t it funny how just the way you do your hair can inspire the rest of your outfit? I was extremely happy with this entire look and hope you all like it as much as I do. 0649068607140689079307010717More wannabe ballerina antics 😉

Fashion Friday (20’s inspired)

Today’s post will be of the outfit I wore on Monday when I went to see The Great Gatsby. I adore the fashion from the 20’s so I figured I best take advantage of the outing to try my hand at a flapper inspired look. I didn’t want it to look like a costume but I did want it to be obvious what I was going for. I quite like the way the look turned out and hope you all do too.

Fashion Friday It’s Been A While!

I cannot begin to tell all of you how excited I am that the weather here in Dallas seems to be calming down a wee bit. It’s funny how your body will suddenly find 90 degrees rather cool, after a week of 105! Fall is just around the corner, I can feel it, so I since the weather was quite nice I decided to dress up a little, and share my look with you guys. When it’s 105 looks are the last thing on your mind, it’s been lazy ponytails, slouchy tank tops, shorts, and flip flops most of the summer. This is the reason for no fashion Fridays as of late, so hopefully I will now be able to post more regularly now that it’s cooling down quite a bit.

I was going for a 1920’s flapper inspired look. I had pin curled my hair the night before and decided to try my hand at a faux bob, and I must say I quite like it.

My accesories and nail polish.

Dress: Target.

Necklace: It was my Super lazy DIY.

Bracelet: Family Heirloom.

Nail Polish: Zoya in the color Goldie, and Sally Hansen in the color Black Out.

Ring: My mother and my Late Father gave it to me 🙂

I really adore a vintage feel to my style, and try to incorporate a bit of retro whenever possible. What are some of your favorite vintage or vintage inspired pieces? What is your favorite fashion decade? I would love some feedback. As always I hope you enjoyed this post, and that everyone has a Happy Friday and equally happy weekend.

Why I don’t need a curling iron or hot rollers!

It’s that time of year for me, no I’m not talking about the upcoming holidays, it’s the time of year where I feel the need to cut all my hair off because I am bored with what I have! Which is a little crazy cause I have been working so hard at growing it long and keeping it healthy! So instead of going and chopping all my hair off I decided I would just change-up how I normally style my hair. I didn’t want to damage my hair though, I  mean I could’ve straightened it with the hot iron, curl it with the curling iron or hot rollers, or even dye it but like I said before I didn’t want to damage my hair, and all the heat and chemicals is not so nice. Then I remembered about rag curling, what a great idea! No heat required, just a bit of time and some scrap cloth is all you need.

I started with clean wet hair.

Then using scrap fabric I had cut into strips, I wrapped my hair around it and rolled it up.

to where I looked something like this.

I used the rag curls somewhat like sponge rollers in the fact that I slept with my hair this way. So you can imagine my delight when I woke in the morning and took my hair down and found the springiest curls!

another great thing about these insane curls is they stay all day, and give incredible texture so wearing my hair up is so easy! So easy in fact I decided to pull off a faux bob.

I decided to accessorize with one of my fave hair pieces a flower 🙂 and there you have it rag curls!
