Fashion Friday Featuring Apostolic Clothing Pt 2.

Hello my beauties! So I missed posting last week because I caught a rather gnarly cold ugh, but I’m back to the land of living and hopefully you find that the wait for the new post was worth it because I certainly do. If you missed Pt 1 you can read that here and learn a little more about the lovely company Apostolic Clothing.

For this look I really wanted to draw inspiration from the gorgeous chocolate brown tulle skirt and pretend for a moment that it actually felt like fall here in Texas 😉

Skirt: Apostolic Clothing well hello new favorite fall skirt! I have owned tulle skirts before and I usually find them to be a hit or miss item, either they look too ballerina-ish for everyday wear, or they can look a tad…witchy for lack of a better adjective. However this beautiful tulle skirt from AC is perfectly wearable, distinctively feminine, and delightfully flattering with its wide elastic waistband that cinches in at the smallest portion of my waist and length wise hits me mid shin so my legs don’t look to short. I am so excited to get lots of wear out of this skirt, I have a feeling a future blog post with different styling methods is probably going to make an appearance. Would you guys like that? Basically I am just looking for more excuses to wear this little number.

Fashion Friday: Workwear You Can Wear Again

Well hello my darlings. I hope life is treating you quite well. For this week’s Fashion Friday I thought I might share a Workwear outfit made of pieces you can wear while at the office or simply out and about with friends.

If you’re anything like me you don’t like clothes you can only wear on certain occasions. If I bought something I want to wear it often, I want my money’s worth…so if I ever get married the whole wedding dress situation should be interesting 😉

Fashion Friday Featuring Tattify

Hey guys sorry I’ve been MIA for a few weeks but life got a bit crazy…and by “a bit crazy” I actually mean my life should’ve been checked into a psych ward crazy 😉 But anyway I am back and finally have a fashion friday to share with you all. This week I am featuring the godsend of a company that is Tattify. If you’re anything like me you’d love nothing more than to be a tattooed badass…but you’re not quite ready to make that leap just yet. This where Tattify comes in to help, they have a myriad of temporary tattoos to choose from sure to suit all tastes. But if you want to be sporting something no one else is or tattify doesn’t have the design you want you can send in a design and get a custom piece! They also have nail art and metallic tattoos so they’ve got you covered on all bases really. 8020PicMonkey CollageI of course went the nerdy route and got Doctor Who themed tattoos.81198193812681047971“Are you afraid of the big bad wolf?”

Earrings: Payless/Similar

Tattoos: Tattify First off I love the designs, was thrilled with how realistic these tattoos looked, some temporary tattoos are too shiny to look real, my highly sensitive skin had no reaction praise the lord, and the price is highly affordable at $5 for two duplicate designs or $15 for a full set. I will say that the Bad Wolf tattoo wore off really quickly…but I think that had to do with where it was placed more than anything, because Allons-y lasted a few days. So all in all I am very pleased, and I will probably continue purchasing from Tattify til I take the leap and get real tattoos 😉

Jacket: Forever 21

Blouse: Forever 21/Similar

Bra top: Onzie

Jeans: Old Navy

Boots: Target

I hope you all enjoyed this post and check Tattify out, and if you do be sure to let me know what design you get! I love hearing from you guys. Happy Friday.

Restricted Shoes Holiday Look

Closer than ever to Christmas now. So cannot believe it, and sadly this is my last Restricted inspired Holiday Outfit to share. But we’re going out with a bang. Like I said in my last post Restricted and I want to make sure that Christmas spending money you get goes a little further, simply use the discount code SF40 for 40% off sitewide now through January 31st.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to share this look with you all, its a culmination of everything I love, glamorous, but not over the top, detail oriented, and amazingly incredibly comfortable. Seriously I’m itching to wear this outfit again…perhaps for New Years?

I’m never taking them off, and if you know me at all that’s quite a statement, I’m usually the first girl to ditch her heels and brave it barefooted. But Restricted knocked it out of the park with these. So if you’re hunting for the perfect pair of heels pick the Doreens you wont be sorry!

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas full of friends, family, food, fun, and of course fashion! XOXO

Restricted Shoes Holiday Look.

Goodness gracious! How is it almost Christmas? Where did the time go? I hope you’ve all got your shopping done and are able kick back, relax, and enjoy the Holiday Season.

Restricted Shoes and I wanted to help further that relaxation by partnering together to not only give you a couple of Holiday Party Outfit Inspirations, but also provide you with a discount that will definitely help you chill out. Simply use the code SF40 for 40% off sitewide now through January 31st. Andy Williams sings about how this is the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most expensive, so I know how a good bargain is a gift in and of itself.

It seems to me the 60’s look comes in every winter, I mean who doesn’t want to channel their inner Betty Draper at their next holiday party? But you can still stand out and not look like every other doll there. Break away from the traditional reds, greens, and golds and maybe go for a mint. Mint is totally winter acceptable, just look at the Starbucks menu, mint everything! Oh and be sure to add a heaping helping of sparkle, Christmas lights aren’t the only one’s who get to shine darling.

Shoes: Restricted Shoes With their bow detailing and white accents these precious flats are going to make you feel lovelier than a Christmas gift wrapped by Martha Stewart herself. One doesn’t always have to don heels to be glam, and if you live somewhere that gets frequent snow or ice, heels can sometimes be a bit of a hazard. Now I’ll be honest, I didn’t find the material on these flats to be incredibly comfortable on the back of my ankles while bare skinned, but pairing them with tights took all discomfort away. Not mention tights are going to keep the cold at bay, and I’m sure with a bit of wearing in the flats will soften up quite nicely.

So if you’re still looking for the perfect “Cinderella” finishing touch to your outfit might I suggest you check Restricted Shoes.

The Brit and The Belle: Little Miss Savage

Sarah Forshaw (@Forshawsarah) and Miss Amy May  (@miss_amy_may) are southern belle and southern brit pinups, respectively, who found one another on Instagram part way through their pinup transformations in mid 2013, at which point they tentatively, then all of a sudden, become devoted and divine friends. Bonding over their urge to bring full on glamour to their every day lives, their shared opinions on cake, and their fierce nerd hearts, the two quickly began to look upon one another as fabulous sisters–who simply hadn’t met yet outside the confines of the interwebs. Due to finally meet IRL to share many squishy hugs and swing-skirted spins in fall 2015, they’re opening up their friendship and their closets to you in this shared blog post while they eagerly await their meeting.

Sarah: Amy and I have been crazy busy lately, so we’ve been a bit delayed in bringing you this post about accessories maker Little Miss Savage, but finally it’s here!

Little Miss Savage, Emily, hand makes headwraps, necklaces, pins, keyrings and bags/wallets, which she sells on her Etsy store and eBay. When we first came into contact with her we immediately fawned over several of her items, and we were so thrilled when she was kind enough to send us both a selection of cuteness.

PicMonkey Collage

Here are the Grey rose skinny bandana $8.60, Flamingo Original Bandana $10.16, Cup of tea brooch $4.68, Cupcake brooch $4.68, Moth necklace $7.81.

When I first started incorporating pinup looks into my life I found headwraps were one of the easiest ways to achieve a rockabilly/pinup look, and over the years I still find this to be true. I’m much too lazy to pincurl my hair every night, and sometimes you have a last minute outing that you were unprepared for…but you still want to be your cutest most retro babe self, and nothing helps a look get there more than the right accessories. Headwraps are a great way to frame a good hair day, but on the flipside they’re also great for camouflaging a monstrous bedhead hair day, and I can honestly say Little Miss Savage’s head wraps are some of the best I’ve ever worn.

Oh and can we all give Emily a round of applause for her jewelry? The moth necklace I have is so me I cannot even believe it, it’s a little bit edgy and almost has a Victorian taxidermy feel to it, but it’s still pretty and girly. And teacup and cupcake brooches? I mean who doesn’t want to indulge in something as sweet as that?

Below are some of the looks I put together using the headwraps. I didn’t use the jewelry in these pics because they kind of got lost, but in person they’re real statement pieces.

Buy me a giant cookie and throw me a party! I finally managed to get some decent bumper bangs. Now when you have a great quiff, pomp, or bumper bangs day the last thing you want to do is mess them up with a tricky bandana scarf situation, this is where Little Miss Savage comes in to play. Emily’s headwraps are made from 100% cotton so they’re not slipping and sliding all about, and you don’t have to worry about folding your scarf just so. Emily has done all the hard work for you by getting rid of cumbersome fabric and leaving you with a streamlined easy to use headwrap that finishes off any look. She’s basically the fairy godmother of the hair accessories world.

Here’s the Music Notes ‘Original’ headwrap £6.49, Anchor ‘Skinny’ headwrap £5.49, Cherry Polka dot ‘Skinny’ headwrap £5.49, Cherry necklace £7.99 and a Pinup Brooch £3.99.

I love the headwraps because I am awful at wrangling headscarves and bandanas, and with a wrap like these all you have to do is throw it on and tie the cute little bow, something I can handle. The availability of them coming as thicker wraps or skinny versions is great because it gives you the choice to have a custom made piece in the width that you most love and the fabric you love–because here’s the awesome thing, Emily hand makes every piece to order so she will create your reversible wrap out of any two fabrics of your choice available in her store. This means that at your request you can have whatever combo you like.

The cherries necklace is adorable. Red is my favourite accessories colour because I find it really pops within a lot of different colour combos. Below I’ve styled it with whites and reds for a classic and casual pinup look but I’ve also worn it with colours like my purple gingham Hell Bunny dress and it totally made the whole look.

I’ve styled some outfits below to show you these cute pieces in action.

I am just in love with my pinup pin! It’s the perfect addition to any collar or top. At only £3.99 each it’s hard to resist the urge to collect the full set.

Little Miss Savage Musical notes Original Headwrap

Unique Vintage Manhattan Gingham Day Dress

Since Sarah has shown you how great it looks to add one of these wraps to a well formed hairdo like her lovely bumper bangs I thought I’d show you the other side of the coin; how useful they are to have around when you’re not doing so well with your hair that day, or in too much of a rush to spend a lot of time crafting yo’ curls.

I have a couple of go-to dos that I whip out when I’m having a busy day or my hair is misbehaving. One of them is what I call the Messy Poodle. It’s like the Lucile ball and carmen Miranda style Poodle Do…but with much less skill. It basically involves piling all of my hair on top of my head as quickly as possible, tweaking only slightly to make sure it doesn’t look totally insane, and then adding a super cute headwrap to detract from my laziness. It’s great on busy work days or when I’m heading out for something more casual.

So if you’re looking for an adorable piece of jewellery or a custom bandanna or two, head over to Little Miss Savage, and while you’re there tell her The Brit & The Belle send her our love!

Fashion Friday Featuring Kenley Collins

Hello my darlings. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are slowly but surely coming out of your turkey induced coma’s. Or if you’re one of those people who go Black Friday shopping I hope you got away without being trampled or having a panic attack. But I have to inform you there is one more thing that needs to be put on your Christmas list. You need to get yourself some Kenley Collins goodness.  Kenley is a prime example of why buying from a designer is such an excellent idea. All the cuts, lines, and silhouettes are carefully and artfully executed, because true designers understand that a fun print isn’t enough to carry a dress. But Kenley definitely likes her fun prints too, so if you like classic and flattering silhouettes but still want fun and unique prints and patterns look no further than Mrs Collins. Her new line an American Geisha is especially fun and unique, but is still classic enough to not look kooky. So do yourself a favor and check it out, odds are you need a new holiday party dress and while everyone else is wearing the bland LBD’s you can be rocking a colorful and lovely Kenley Collins original. 599460756234details6399silly fall photosHaving a light snack of foliage…as one does.616360616123

Dress: Kenley Collins Oh this dress though! As any woman knows getting a strapless dress that stays put and looks good is damn near impossible. But this dress flies in the face of reason and says ‘no I will stay put, I wont look like a towel wrapped around you post shower, I will be elegant and lovely, because I have wonderfully supportive boning in the bodice’. I could not be more in love with this dress, the construction is nothing short of miraculous, the print is BEAUTIFUL, size chart is totally on the money accurate, and the material 100% cotton so its machine washable!!! I know that may not seem like a big deal to some people but since I’m still a child I hate having to go to the drycleaners 😉 Thank you Kenley. I love you and your gorgeous (yet practical) designs!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and that you check out Kenley’s beautiful new line. Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Featuring Daddy-O’s

This week’s Fashion Friday will be featuring Daddy O’s  a company I came across when I first started my journey into pinup, so you can imagine my excitement when I finally got to feature them here on my blog.

Unlike many of the companies and stores that I feature Daddy O’s caters to gentlemen as well. Yes so that means the fella in your life can be sporting some equally stylish duds, from Bowling shirts to belts they’ve got it all, in fact they even carry bowling shirts for little boys, which I have got to say is one of the cutest things ever…and I’m already planning outfits for my little nephew 😉

Since Daddy O’s carries a number of brands such as Stop Staring, Steady Clothing, and Lucky 13 just to name a few, you are guaranteed to find something suited just for you.  I ended up falling in love with this little number from Stop Staring and I’m sure you can understand why.
25062586PicMonkey Collage252526882653273025362600269127652703

Dress: Daddy O’s Where do I begin with this dress? The fabulous lapels? The fact that the halter is gorgeous but can also be removed if you’re feeling like being sassy and strapless? Or should I just talk about what jumped out at me most? THE PEPLUM DETAILING! Is there anything more classically feminine and wondrously flattering as peplum? I ordered a medium and I’d say it fits quite well, as a reference for you my measurements are 36″ 27.5″ 36″. Now I have a few wiggle dresses but most of them have been made from a thicker material so I might recommend wearing shapewear with this particular dress, I should have honestly, but most of my clothes are still in boxes, oh the joys of moving house 😉 But anyway back to the dress, its a stunner of a piece and I can see it easily being a pinup staple that gets worn all year round! In conclusion I am thrilled with my choice.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check Daddy O’s out. Happy Friday my loves!

Fashion Friday Featuring Malco Modes

Hello guys and dolls, that is assuming the occasional guy stumbles across my blog, I keep it pretty girly here haha.  Anway this week I will be doing another feature on the best petticoat/crinoline company around, Malco Modes!

To me there isn’t anything sadder than a swing skirt or dress not living up to its full voluminous potential, all that fabric deserves to be delightfully puffy and cloud like, am I right? But where is a pinup girl to turn? There are soooo many petticoat and crinoline options out there it can be seriously overwhelming, and if you’re anything like me too many options result in a choice not being made at all. Well let me take you by the hand and guide you to where you and your swing skirt/dresses need to be getting their support.

I’m still in the beginning stages of putting together my dream pinup wardrobe so as of right now I only have two petticoats, both of which are from Malco Modes. Now this may sound as if I’m not in a position to really tell you who you should be buying from but keep this in mind, just because I only own from one company doesn’t mean I haven’t tried on other companies. I may look a little more high maintenance than most but I do not sacrifice comfort, I’ve tried on different petticoats and crinolines from other companies and everytime they have felt incredibly itchy and uncomfortable, stiff fabric is great at holding out that skirt of yours, but it also feels a bit like a cheese grater on your skin…thanks but no thanks.  Malco Modes on the other hand is incredibly comfortable, their petticoats are made from cotton candy soft chiffon, and their crinolines are made from nylon net with a nylon organza as the bottom layer so it doesn’t scratch your legs in the least, and because of the handcrafted quality of these pieces the volume pay off they provide is stunning!

To me the answer as to who you should get your petticoats and crinolines from couldn’t be any clearer. Malco Modes is a 100% made in the USA company, all of their pieces are hand crafted ensuring phenomenal long lasting quality, and the comfort level their pieces provide is out of this world! What more could you possibly want? 123512731189PicMonkey CollageI can only keep the whole dignified modeling thing up for so long…I mean do you really expect me to not jump on the bed?

Glasses: Claires/Similar

Corset: Corset Story

Bottoms: Onzie

Crinoline: Malco Modes I was a bit worried that nothing could live up to my first petticoat but Malco Modes knocked it out of the park yet again. The size chart is spot on, this crinoline is so bouncy and full and gives such a fun life to any swing skirt/dress, and the variety of colors offered is just insane. I’m already trying to decide which colors I need next haha. I have a petticoat and crinoline addiction and I have no intention of giving it up either 😉

If you’re in the market for an excellent petticoat or crinoline just do yourself a favor and order from Malco Modes, you won’t regret it I promise!

Hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a great weekend full of giggles and big skirts
