Fashion Friday Featuring: Harkin Headquarters

Well hello you gorgeous thing you, welcome to 2015! May this year be even better than last and may your fashion continue to grow in its fabulousness.

I must say I am was really excited to post this first Fashion Friday of the New Year. This is the time everyone is making goals and setting out to accomplish them, usually these goals deal with health and wealth. But I believe having fashion resolutions is just as important. This is why I could not be more thrilled to feature Harkin Headquarters. What makes Harkin Headquarters so special you might ask? Well first off the products offered are incredibly stylish, but the core value of HHQ is that of supporting independent artisans. In a world of mass production and shoddy quality its nice to know there are still businesses out there that care about people, quality, and of course style.

The variety of products offered by HHQ is phenomenal from ponchos to headdresses, tapestries to bracelets, this kickass company has it all. Including Keith Harkin merch, which was so wonderfully modeled by my stunning beauty of a sister, and okayishly modeled by me as well 😉

One Piece Multiple Possibilities

Hello all I hope you’re having a great week so far. I thought it would be fun to do another “transitional fashion” post but instead of a from day to night look I thought it would be fun to show you all how with the help from some select accessories and styling tips you can change the look of a romper completely.

I decided to go with my two favorite style aesthetics, both of which could not be more polar opposite, but seriously where is it written that you can’t like a little bit of everything when it comes to style?

Look 1. Pinup Inspired

Because of the casual nature of a romper I decided to keep my hair simple, rolled bangs, a little bit of a bouffant working, and the rest of my hair down and curled all set off with a cute little bandana. I of course ignore how casual the romper is when it comes to my makeup though, a classic red lip and a winged liner is just a must have to for me, and to set the look off I paired a wide red belt to define my waist and a pair of heels to make my legs look a little longer and leaner than they actually are.front and backdetails9230923893009242

Earrings: Kohls

Bra Top: Onzie

Look 2. Bohemian inspired.

See what I mean about polar opposites? For a fun bohemian look I went a little more “intricate” with my hair doing a fun twisted crown and some soft romantic curls to set it off, kept the makeup very simple and luminous, piled on the jewelry I’ve never heard of such a thing as too much turquoise, added a brown braided belt, again to define my waist, and kimono to give the look some movement. Then threw on some cowboy boots for a bit of a rustic edge.

Jewelry: The choker my mother made and I believe all the other pieces were bought at pow wows. Honestly pow wows are the greatest places to find gorgeous turquoise jewelry and I like supporting artists as opposed to companies. Do a little research and see if there are any pow wows taking place in your town, and don’t worry if you’re not Native American every pow wow I have ever been to has been open to the public. However if there aren’t any pow wows taking place near you I did find this site (Indian Village Mall) that sells gorgeous Native American wears.

Kimono: Cotton bought it ages ago but I love this Kimono from Forever 21 as an alternative

Romper: H&M /Similar

Belt: Vintage/Similar

Boots: Atwoods supply store/Similar

Which look was your favorite? Do you have a tendency to have polar fashion favorites or is it just me? Drop me a line I love hearing from you guys.

Hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did. Happy Wednesday!

Fashion Friday Must Have Accessory Trends for Spring 2014.

Being that the weather seems to finally be losing it’s chilly edge I thought I’d do a little post on spring trend accessories.

Adding new accessories is a great way to update your wardrobe for spring without spending a huge amount of money. Sometimes all it takes is a new scarf or a new purse to help your wardrobe staples take on a whole new style. If you’re looking for a new piece of wearable fashion for the new season, below are a few spring trends I’ll be working into my wardrobe as the weather gets warmer!

1. Anything vibrant orange. According to Elle magazine, bright orange is the go-to color for the coming season. In fact, they call it “the new black.” Rock this look by pairing a Sarah Stewart orange silk scarf with my Irene Adler inspired hair and makeup, cropped pants, and a white tee, and you’re all set!

2. “Hippie” bags made of natural fibers. Harper’s Bazaar magazine calls “haute hippie” bags made from natural fibers like cotton and hemp a growing trend as consumers continue the move away from animal products. This Shiva Navy backpack fits right in with that style and would be a really cute yoga bag. Might just need to snap this one up immediately…

3. Fringe. The “Fashion Spot” announces that fringe is another popular trend this spring. Designers are using it on everything from scarves to bags to shoes. Some fringe is subtle, like the hem of a scarf; other uses are over-the-top, with two to three-inch fringe flowing from the edge of a bag. Definitely a fun way to spice up your look!

4. Neck scarves. Another trend to look for this spring, according to Harper’s Bazaar is the neck scarf. This mainstay of the 1950s is one of my favorite trends, and has been seen on the runways this spring. I love this accessory because it is super affordable and an easy way to add a vintage feel to any outfit.

5. Black and white. In Style magazine calls pairing black and white a spring trend that you don’t even have to wait for warm weather to wear. This look is easy to create. A pair of black jeans with a white tee or sweater makes an ideal canvas for adding just a bit of color, like this pretty electric blue weekender bag. (Hint: you don’t have to be going on a trip to wear this bag. It’ll hold your laptop or your tablet as well as all of your essential gear. Could be another contender for a yoga bag…decisions, decisions!)

6. Modern global crafts. Vogue magazine emphasizes modern crafts for spring, 2014. The Shiva navy backpack mentioned above is right in line with this colorful trend. So is this Guatamalan style woven bracelet that combines traditional Indian designs with Swarovski crystals.

It may be cold right now where you live, but it’s not too early to be thinking of spring fashion. Accessories make sprucing up your spring wardrobe easy and affordable.

I hop you all enjoyed this post and that will work some fun accessories into your new wardrobe. Happy Friday I love you guys.

Fashion Friday gets a bit more bohemian

So with all of the fabulous pictures of coachella blowing up my instagram feed and the fact that just about every summer bohemian style is a big hit, I decided to try my hand at it with some things I already have in my closet. I hope you all like what I came up with.

Wow is it Friday already? This week flew by pretty quick…that tends to happen when you sleep the week away, I hadn’t been feeling terrific, but I felt pretty good on Thursday, so I got a little more stylish than the sweats and drab t-shirt look I had been sportin’ all week, nothing like a cute outfit to lift your spirits huh? So here it is my lovelies Fashion Friday!

And where did you get them? A store, grandma’s jewelry box, or your mom’s closet? I would love to here from you guys! I hope you all have a very Happy Fashionable Friday and fabulous weekend!
