Fashion Friday Featuring Unique Vintage and Serious Body Confidence.

Hello my darlings, I am so sorry its been absolute ages since I’ve posted anything, life just doesn’t seem to want to calm down for me. However I now have a post to share with you all.

While on vacation in MD I was finally able to bust out my gorgeous UV swimsuit and thanks to my beautiful photographer friend Amanda we were able to capture some really great pics to share with all of you.

Now I have never done a post like this before, and by like this I mean one where I am seriously “exposed”. More often than not my fashion posts are of me wearing retro styled super modest dresses, not necessarily because I’m self conscious but because thats what I feel most comfortable in. But I loved this suit so much I had to share. I was not always the confident girl I have trained myself to be, hell I used to not dress pinup for fear of people staring, so the idea of posting pictures of myself in a swimsuit on the web is currently baffling shy Sarah. But like I said I love this suit…and amazingly I love me and my body. Ya there are bits I am working on to change but even now I totally dig myself. My stomach is not flat at all, my arms could stand some toning up, and yes my legs have cellulite and I jiggle but my body is beautiful all the same. Also this suit is just another example of how amazing Unique Vintage is, this company really caters to women of all sizes. Real women have curves, no curves, and everything in between. But the one thing we all have in common is the desire to feel beautiful and have clothes fit us well, so props to you UV for once again getting it right.

Swim Top: Unique Vintage So turns out you can actually get swim tops that support, cover, and looks super cute…well at least you can when you buy one from UV that is. I wouldn’t necessarily categorize myself as busty but for some reason I always had trouble finding a top to actually fit, that was until I experienced the beauty that is the Casablanca swim top. When it came to sizing I went by cup size rather than band width because that can always be altered, but cups not so much. As a 36 D the large top fit beautifully without any need of alterations and I couldn’t be happier.

Swim Bottoms: Unique Vintage These bottoms are life, they are fierceness, they are the best swim bottoms in existence and anyone who says differently is a dirty liar 😉 I have long adored the high waisted swimsuits but I could never find one that didn’t cut me weird due to my long torso, honestly most “high waisted” bottoms looked more like granny panties as they came up to just under my belly button, ew just ew. But these UV bottoms are long enough for my torso, have a decent amount of support for a smoother look, and *hallelujah chorus* they cover ones backside. Seriously man sand gets everywhere I don’t want to be cheeky at the beach thanks. So if you’re anything like me you’ll take comfort in knowing Unique Vintage has your back…side haha.

Portraits: The marvelous Amanda of Gilded Isle Photography Honestly this lady’s talent speaks for itself, her work impeccable, and she is so brilliant at putting one at ease and making a shoot a fun experience. Seriously you should hire her for all your portrait needs!

So there you have it guys, Unique Vintage is perfect yet again and you should really check em out, and Gilded Isle is the best photography business that ever existed so hire them. Hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have a happy Friday my loves.

Fashion Friday Heads to PUG

Happy Friday my lovelies! Words cannot express how excited I am to share this week’s post with you all. Last month I had the great fortune to take a trip to the Los Angeles area, I got to check out Hollywood, Venice, Santa Monica, a few other surrounding areas and best of all I got to visit Burbank! Now what is so special about Burbank you may ask? Well it just so happens to be where Pinup Girl Boutique is located! I did it, I lived the dream of every girl who loves pinup style, I actually got to walk through those magical doors that transport you back to days gone by simply by surrounding you in all things beautiful. I can only compare the experience to that of being a small child who just got their allowance and walked into a candy store. When I first arrived I hardly knew where to look first, there was something I “needed” everywhere my eyes landed, dress after beautiful dress, separates that were so beautiful they could make you cry, and accessories so fantastic you finally understood what it would be like to be an actual Barbie Doll.

in the shop I was in my element you guys!photo 3 (3)

Seriously Pinup Girl Clothing has something no other stores have nowadays, not only are there clothes like that of days gone by, but there window displays are witty and beautiful, and they give you the individual attention that used to be the norm in our grandparents day and age. True customer service to go along with perfect products? Yes please! As soon as I walked in I was greeted with warm smiles and hello’s, while I was going through picking out dresses to try on, one of the lovely ladies of the store said she could go ahead and put them in the dressing room that way I didn’t have to carry them around while shopping, and while trying on the dresses I was praised with the sweetest of compliments, that truly made me feel beautiful and special. The girls of PUG are beautiful, sweet, and incredibly friendly and helpful if you ever have the chance to go to the boutique BY ALL MEANS GO! Oh also they’re having a yardsale this Sunday so if you’re in the area you certainly don’t want to miss it. If however you do not live in the area you can at least buy the clothes on line, and let me tell ya never in your life are you going to be able to buy ready made clothes that will flatter and fit this well! Yes PUG is a little on the higher end but in this case you’re not paying for a brand you are paying for true quality!

Now on to the dresses. I already knew what I wanted when I walked into the boutique. I am a planner shopper 😉 but I did try on a few things just for kicks, just a few things mind you. I knew if I tried on everything I would inadvertently want everything.

PicMonkey CollageNow I knew that I wanted the Ella Dress but I wasn’t entirely sure what color I wanted. It was nearly impossible to choose they were all so beautiful, and never in my life was I more tempted to blow the budget and buy a second dress when I tried on the ever so sexy Vamp dress! I mean wowie wow wow! This dress does magical things for ones curves…I feel a future purchase coming on you guys. After lots of giggling, going back and forth with which dress I wanted, and conversing with the girls in shop over which Ella I should get I finally picked a color.

6628The Blue Ella! It was difficult to decide as all the Ellas were just delightfully beautiful, but there was just something about the blue I couldn’t pass up!6483Needless to say this dress made me feel like a star!6506PicMonkey CollageI just cannot get over the skirt of this dress! So much glorious fabric, honestly this is why I didn’t feel the least bit sorry about buying this dress, not only is it beautiful, but when you think about how much the fabric would cost you if you were to make this garment yourself it would be well over the cost of this already constructed perfect masterpiece. Plus all of PUG’s pieces are made in the USA, now talk about feeling good about your purchase.654366186639Oh ya did I forget to mention? This dress has pocket!!!67066586666265586644

Clearly happy about my purchase

Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters

Dress: Pinup Girl Clothing How can words even do this dress justice? The colors are spectacular, the fabric quality is out of this world, the fit is superb and very much true to size, plus its just so pretty! The moment I walked out of the dressing room I couldn’t help but say “I feel like a princess” which is what every girl wants right? This dress is all about detail the gathered peasant bodice, grosgrain bow under the bust, wide waist band, and pockets make for such a glorious combination. I heard all sorts of incredible reviews on PUG pieces and I felt like maybe they were too good to be true. But it is absolutely true. PUG is quality and beauty wrapped up into the most perfect garments you will ever have the pleasure of wearing. Its easy to waste money on cheap pieces of clothing and make do, but wouldn’t you rather buy something that will last through trends as well as wear and tear? I say yes to investing in ourselves, our closets, and in a business that really listens to its customers, and caters to women of all shapes and sizes.

Petticoat: Malco Modes

Shoes: Payless not the exact pair I am wearing. The ones I bought were on clearance so they’re no longer available.

I really hope you all enjoyed this post and that you check out Pinup Girl Clothing. Happy Friday!

“We’ll Always Have Paris”

WARNING! this post contains a lot of pictures! If you have very little patience for people who feel the need to over-document events in their life this post is not for you!

Hello Guys! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while, but I have a good excuse…I was helping plan my 20th! Ya I guess that may not be a great excuse…but it’s my party and I’ll slack off if I want to. So normally I never do anything terribly over the top for my birthdays, but for my 20th I wanted to do something with a bit of umph, a fun, slightly glamorous, but still laid back-ish in style party. So I decided I would throw a French (Parisian) inspired dinner party, with some of my closest friends. I had such a blast planning, cooking, and spending time with my great friends! I am sort of a foodie so this party was the perfect excuse for me to cook all of the fussy dishes I wouldn’t normally prepare, like French Macaroons, those are some work! But lucky me I have a loving family so I didn’t have to do a lot of the work on my own. So enough talking I am sure you would much prefer to see what my party looked like so here ya go.

We strung up lights and set the table in the living room, so we had plenty of space.

This is the gorgeous flower arrangement my mother put together, might I add she said she has “never done arrangements before”. So even without training or practice my mother puts Martha Stewart to shame!

These are the awesome posters that we found for 60% off!

We decided to even decorate the front door area!

Our adorable little sandwich board. PS mommy wrote this! How cute is her handwriting?

Now for my favorite part…the food! These are the French Macaroons.

The gorgeous red fondant raspberry cake my mommy made me. Isn’t she just the best?

The delicious cheese tray.

Tapenade in endive leaves.

Our entire cocktail menu. Bloody Mary’s, tapenade in endive, cheese tray, and prosciutto wrapped around cantaloupe and asparagus. It was all incredibly delicious.

Quite possibly the most delish dish I have ever made…Boeuf Bourgingon and mashed potatoes. It was so good my mother who really detests beef, loved this meal like crazy!

Tea and coffee break. I of course had tea yummy 🙂

Then onto dessert cake and Shirley Temple’s.

Gifts! My sweet mommy got me real pearls for my 20th! Cute thing was when she gave me my gift I was wearing my fake pearls 🙂

This necklace was given to me by my very best friend (we’ve been inseparable for the past 11 years). This necklace is either from the late 50’s or early 60’s. And I am not ashamed to say when she gave me this I got pretty choked up.

I also got some other fabulous gifts too, I made out like a bandit, I received some lovely perfume (which I am wearing right now) and some great cards and cash (you can never go wrong with cash is all I am saying).

My great friends and lovely family honestly made this one of the most special birthday’s ever! I love you guys.

So I hope you guys enjoyed my post! And if any of you want the recipe to anything feel free to ask. Have a super happy Monday and a great Valentines. Love you!

“Can’t go yet”

Well I suppose now that it is 2012 and everyone is chattering about 2011. Am I the only one who finds it funny that when the year is over people can’t seem to let it go? They need to talk about what happened, what they learned, what they saw, and where they traveled. I too like to reflect on things, to look back just to see how far I have come. However I can’t help but think of all the things I want to do, not what I have done. So in a way here are my resolutions, not so much for this year but for life! Here are the places I can’t go to yet, but have to see before I go for good.

1. Greece! It has been a dream of mine to go to Greece ever since I was a little girl. My late father always wanted to go, he said he wanted to see the ruins before they were gone! He also wanted to take my mother with, but he never got the chance, so when I go my mother will be going with me, taking us full circle and it will be without a doubt one of the most meaningful trips of my life.

can you believe how blue that water is?

2. Ireland! Yet another place I have wanted to visit for a long time. I just love all the beautiful green rolling hills in the countryside and the quaint little pubs in the city! Not to mention that it is the Irish that have the cutest accents in the world! 😉

3. Italy! Who wouldn’t want to go to Italy? The food, the landscape, the cars, and let us not forget THE SHOES! Those Italians sure know how to make a great shoe!

4. France! I took two years of French and forgot almost all of it! But C’est la vie. 😉 France just seems to be a culmination of what makes me happy, beautiful architecture, fabulous foods, beautiful fashion, and countless photo-ops. The French are supposedly rude but I don’t care if that is true or not, I will find that out for myself without any pre conceived notions.

5. Austria! More specifically Vienna during ball season! I mean Vienna is one of the few places that still parties like its 1699 😉 and how many opportunities does a girl get to wear a ball gown?

There are a great deal of other places I long to travel to, but I thought I might just share some of my top locations. What about you guys? Where are some of your dream destinations and why? I hope you enjoyed this post! Happy Tuesday!
